18-8-2009 - Dr.'s and Experts?

Okay, so last week I had THREE ultrasounds because of pain on my left side and extremely bad pain in my right shoulder. I've been stressing out for over a week about a possible ectopic pregnancy. The first u/s showed a gestational sac and possibly a very tiny yolk sac along with a pretty big cyst in my left ovary which would explain my pain. The second u/s the next day confirmed the gest. sac and yolk sac and revealed the cyst had ruptured!! Another u/s two days later showed growth of the sac, but Dr. said he still couldn't rule out ectopic because of the possibility of twins, one in uterus and one in the tube. No one said anything about my shoulder pain which hurt way more than anything else.

I've been freaking out wondering if I should go to the E.R. and get it checked out. So finally I do an internet search on shoulder pain and discover that a ruptured ovarian cyst can cause extreme right shoulder pain, exactly what i've been feeling for over a week. My question is why didn't any of the so called Dr.'s and experts share this critical information with me last week????? I'm relieved but very ticked off at the undue stress this has put me through.

I just wanted to share with you ladies in case this ever happens to you one day. They say that shoulder pain is a very ominous sign that an ectopic pregnancy has burst and you have internal bleeding, but as I've learned it could also be a ruptured ovarian cyst that can cause the very same shoulder pain.

The bottom line is unfortunately Dr.'s don't tell you everything and sometimes you have to take matters into your hands when it comes to your health and the health of your baby.

I agree! I am glad you are feeling better and now know the source of the pain. I hope there is no ectopic twin in there though.
