| 02-5-2009 - False alarm? | My mood while writing this blog:Hungry |
Sorry I haven't been around to update much with many recent belly pics or blogs. I've been busy and what not. All has been great until yesterday anyway!
Around 5:30pm (right after doctors office closed, by the way.) I went to the bathroom and noticed I had some bleeding. Not a lot, but enough to concern me! I then started paying attention close to my body and realized that I was having contractions (BH, I believe) but they were coming every 7 minutes apart, and some were strong enough to cause a little pain! I had been having some lower cramping and vaginal pains for about a week but didn't think it was a big deal considering that I am almost in my 9th month of pregnancy.. I assumed that its pretty normal. WELL... After waiting 2 hours and talking to some family members who all kept telling me and my husband to go to the hospital and get checked and then some more blood... We ended up going to L&D at the hospital. They hooked me up, baby's hearbeat looked good.. they were worried about the amount of contractions I was having. Luckily my Doctor was on call that night so he showed up within an hour to check on me. He ended up checking my cervix, and said I was only about a "fingertip" dilated. They ended up hooking an IV in my vein to give me a bag of IV fluids because usually if you are dehydrated it irritates the uterus and you will have contractions. Then, they wanted to collect a urine sample. I knew I most likely WASN'T in labor but I was having contractions like every 7-10 minutes apart. Some were strong, and then some I could barely feel. I was mainly worried if my baby was under stress.
Anyway, come to find out I have a bladder infection! WHAT? I suppose we caught it kind of early. I had been having cramping and vaginal pains all week and apparently the pains I'm having is caused because of the infection. The nurse said if I would of waited then next 2 symptoms would have been the burning when I would urinate and the feeling of having to go again and again. Also, the infection is also what is causing all these contractions. My doc was trying to decide if I should stay overnight or not and I convinced him to let me come home. I have some antibiotics that I am taking and hopefully that clears this mess up. Really glad I found out early before the crappiest of the symptoms showed up. My next doc appt. is in 5 days and he is going to check my cervix again then.
I've been drinking plenty of water and trying to keep off my feet a lot because it hurts really badly when I walk. Other than that I feel good and the baby is moving a lot. I did have contractions ALL night lastnight though. I had no idea that bladder infections during pregnancy could cause you to go into pre-term labor and there are other things that can happen to your baby if you don't get it treated!
I am thankful to be home. I told my baby to give me just 2 weeks then I would be COMPLETELY ready for him. :) He can come in 2 weeks if he wants. I just need to finish getting and doing a few things first!
I bet this baby is going to be a May baby and not a June baby though! :)
Hope all is well with you ladies and your babies. All of us May and June mamas are getting close!
