My mood while writing this blog: Frustrated! |
I am sooo frustrated right now. My mother in law is driving me crazy! Okay, I know she had 4 babies, but does that mean she knows everything? We moved to the farm about 3 months ago and are now seeing a lot more of them. No matter what I say, she always knows better. Even small things. If I say I think it's going to rain, she says no way. If I say my back is aching, she says its my imagination, it's too soon for that.
I know this will be her 1st grandchild and that she is very excited, but right now I am avoiding her. She is driving me crazy! Do you think I am being unreasonable?

Monday, 16 Mar i can totally relate to you. i dont have a mother in law, but father in law that is not the easiest person to get along with! next time she says something that seems as though it is undermining you simply say " i see what youre saying but i actually do have a backache" just give her that look and she will know to keep her mouth shut, she sounds like one of those people that just wants to disagree with everything you say for the hell of it! SO annoying! Mandy Irish Mommy -

Monday, 16 Mar Luckily my inlaws live 400km away... I do get along well with my father in law, but my mother in law... oh boy. We are sort of on a limited speaking situation... after she fed my son a double dose of painkiller instead of his vitamins... (btw - painkiller was in bottle for EMERGENCY only... vitamins look like jelly beans). And this from a women who claims to have been a nurse!!! She's done some spectacular things in the 5,5 years that we are married and my husband knows that it is MUCH better to keep us apart. Her comment on hearing I'm pregnant... "Oh, but your husband's cousin is pregnant and she... blah, blah, blah..." not a single question since then about me! So trust me - mother in laws... grrrrrr mls1188 -
Monday, 16 Mar No, I don't think you're being unreasonable!!! I live on my in-laws farm, and i feel the same way. But a good thing to do would be to have your hubby talk to her, so it's not you being the bad guy! He could just tell her to lay off of you. You don't need her extra stress on you right now! GeoS -
Monday, 16 Mar Ok! Same goes here. Both mom and MIL go "this is how it goes (bla bla bla). ....You'll see". I just stopped talking about how I feel or what sensations I get with them and just talk nonsense with them. I prefer sharing such staff with the girls here. It saves me from the frustration and my snapping at them "How do you know...diet was different when you were young, doctors were less informed women were stronger and harder due to their way of living and when you gave birth u/s did not exist". Now, aint this feeling good or what... Heidi Boo -
