My mood while writing this blog: Satisfied with life! |
Wow, can't believe Sumarie is already 2 weeks and 3 days old! We've been home for 2 weeks and every second has been a blessing. She is such a sweet little angel. She hardly ever cries and when she does, it's because she's hungry or because she has a soiled nappy. It seems like she's a bit constipated but not terribly. Any tips? If it gets any worse, I'll have to take her to the doctor.
Update:
Breastfeeding has been a trial for me. I have a problem with my nipples and she struggles to latch on. I was so determined to bf, but seems like it's just not meant to me. I have been expressing every 3 hours, but I don't have enough milk for her, so I am supplementing. The whole issue made me depressed and then my dh said that I tried my best and that's all that matters. I felt like such a failure! But now I am at the point where I give her what I can and if she needs any more, I give formula.
My
in-laws... I have this major issue that I need to resolve with myself. My own family lifes far away and can't come to visit very often. It feels like I don't want to share my daughter with my in-laws. I know it's not fair, but I hate it when they come around, because they want to hold her and I don't want to let her go. My MIL also keeps on taking her to another room. She says she wants some "alone time" with her. What for?! It drives me insane and then I will keep on brewing until I get my daughter back. Am I being unreasonable? I guess I am, but I simply can't help it. I also hate it when my MIL keeps saying it's HER baby.
Sumarie has been so good. She usually feeds every 4 hours. She wakes at about 03h00 and 07h00 every night. She just has this grunting thing she does at night. Is this normal? It doesn't seem like she's in pain. It's just whenever I touch or move her at night, she grunts. She also does this when she stretches her body. She have already reached most of the first month development milestones. She was able to lift and turn her head in the hospital already and by now she can keep her head up for about 7 seconds at a time.
My recovery from the
c-section is coming along. The 1st week was rather painfull. By the second week it was only painful to get up and when I start moving around. By now, it only hurts when I get up in the morning. Even though my normal jeans already fit me again, I am still wearing my maternity pants because of the incision. It is still rather sensitive.
It seem my
weight won't be too much of an issue. I've got about 3kg (6.6 pounds) to loose. However, I still have a bit of a tummy. But it's looking better every day. Can't wait to be able to exercise again. I want my body back!! I hate it when DH comes in when I'm taking a bath. I don't feel too good about my body and I'm scared he'll always remember how I look now. He says I am being irrational, but still. I want him to see me as a woman, not only a mother.
I think that's enough for 1 day. I don't want to bore you guys!
Congrats to all who had their babies, lots of labour dust to those who are close and tons of baby dust to those TTC. You are all in my thoughts and prayers! I have found so many great friends here!
Lots of love

Friday, 21 Aug I also had problems getting isabella to latch on properly. I find that using a "nipple shield" works very well, by allowing her to nurse but it adds a little length to my nipple. She used to get frustrated and only suck for a min or so, but now it reaches far enough back that she stays on. Hope this helps! RainbowRach -
