| 21-11-2009 - Birth Story | My mood while writing this blog:Good |
Tuesday November 10th, I went to my doctors appointment and they decided it was time to start inducing me. I was sent over to the hospital. They checked me and I was zero dilated. They gave me the gel and made me lay there for an hour and sent me home. I was told to come back the next day if nothing happened. I had some contractions all night long but very far apart what stopped by morning.
Wednesday November 11th, I went back to the hospital they checked me and still zero dilated. They gave me another gel and sent me home again after an hour. That night I didnt have any contractions.
Thursday November 12th, Back to the hospital. I was checked again and this time I was just under 2 cm dilated. They gave me yet another gel and sent me on my way. I had some contractions but again they tappered off.
Friday November 13th, I went back to the hospital in the morning. They were super busy so I ended up being seen in the early afternoon. I was checked and was at 3cm dilated. The ob did the sweep of my cervix what started contractions right away. Around 9pm they put me in a room and took the doctor two attempts to break my water. I was started on the oxitocin drip right away. They constantly increased my drip and I was in major pain. I started to get a fever with vomiting and shaking. I was checked again and at 4 cm's around midnight or so. The epidural doctor came in and took him 30 mins to give me the epidural. He ended up not doing my epidural properly and only froze half my body. The contractions were super strong because the amount of drip i was on. It took him hours to come back and when he did he had to redo the epidural again. In that time my vomiting became so bad I was vomiting up blood. My entire body was shaking so bad with a chill yet i was sweeting. The epidural only lasted a short amount of time then all of a sudden all the contractions came back full force. Again the epidural doctor was too busy to come back to me and they kept increasing my iv drip to make the contractions stronger and stronger. I felt like it was never ending. I could hear ladies in the other rooms screaming and pushing for half an hour to an hour then hear their precious babies crying.. Wondering why it's taking me so long.. In the morning a new epidural doctor came in and AGAIN had to redo my epidural. Finally pain free... oh heaven!! BUT... my fever was so bad it felt like I had a really bad case of the flu. I could not stop vomiting. I was checked in the morning and still at 4 cm's. It seemed the more they increased my drip the sicker I became. The doctors were very concerned about my fever. The baby's heart rate started to drop and they had to keep moving me around to get it back up. This happened many times. At 2pm I was checked again and now at 5 cm's. The doctor explained to me I should be dilating at least one cm an hour with the drip I was on and the fact i was in full force labour. The doctor came back at 5pm to check me again and I was only at 5 and half cm's, and the baby had moved back up high. She gave me the option of waiting another hour or to have an emergancy c-section. At that point my fever still had not dropped, I was still vomiting, and shaking really bad, my head was pounding. I was in tears and just could not take anymore. I decided on the c-section. They immediately preped me and brought me to the operating room. After over 26 hours of hard labour, Bonnie Izabella was born November 14th @ 6:09pm by c-section weighing 6lbs 8ounces. When they took her out they found she was in extreme stress and had pooped. Thankfully she was fine!! I was told that if I ever have another child they will automatically do c-section because my birth canal is too small to deliver.
I am extremely sore from the c-section and my back is very badly bruised and cut up from the THREE epidurals I had. I am so happy she is finally here. She is so precious. I was released from the hosptial on Tuesday and Bonnie is doing great. She is gaining weight and a very happy baby. She has lots of hair and is so adorable. We just love her to pieces!!! My hubby is doing alot right now because I not very mobile. I hoping to heal quickly so I can enjoy being around her more.
