| 10-1-2009 - Fertility Clinic | My mood while writing this blog:Happy |
Well I had my first appointment with a fertility clinic on Jan 8th. It came at a perfect time as I had started my first new cycle (a/f) on monday. The first appointment was basically a consult. They gave my hubby a jar for a sperm sample what he can do at home and rush to a lab. I had to go back on Friday for a ultra sound and blood work. They will be monitoring my eggs size, hormones ect.. through-out my cycle and also watching with ultra sounds to pin point when or if I do ovulate. I am actually really excited about this because it has made me very positive about ttc. I have to go back on thrusday Jan 15 for a dye test. They will be checking to make sure I have no blockages. I am pretty nervous about this test. It is done in the hospital. Then Friday I am back again for another ultra sound and more blood.
The Fertility doctor has told me that they are going to watch my cycle closely this month and see if I can get pregnant naturally with their help of making sure my eggs are in good condition and hormones are at proper levels. I am so impressed at the amount of testing they do. If I cant get my bfp this month they are going to move on to putting me on fertility drugs. I am already taking metformin what they up'd my dose, and gave me some prescription prenatal vitamins. After all the testing I will have another consult for the results.
I am now wondering why I waited so long to actually go to this clinic. I recommend it for any of you who are ttc and keep getting bfn. Sometimes from what I was told it could be something very simple and fixed with a med. I was concerned about the costs but so far only a one time only major blood work test has costed me. All the u/s and doc visits ect.. are covered by our health care (Canada).
After my last m/c I really thought it just was never going to happen for me. I was ready to give up. I just didnt know if I could take anymore loss. My family doctor pushed me to go to this clinic. Now I am very positive and feel it will happen. There is no way we will be able to move on to the super expensive treatments but I am hopeful that the meds will work.
