07-6-2009 - First OB appointment

My mood while writing this blog: ok

I had my first OB appointment on Wednesday June 3rd. Right at 16 weeks. I went in and almost died when I seen my weight. Thankfully the OB didnt mention it to me so I guess it's ok. I did the pee on a stick test to test for protein or sugar in my urine. The sugar test came back positive. I was able to hear the baby's heart beat but only for a few seconds because baby was on the move... It was really great hearing it for the first time but I just wish I could have heard it longer.

As for the urine test, they sent me to do blood for my second part of the screening, also to check my b12 because it was low before and to check my sugar level. The clinic called me the next day to say my sugar test came back positive for high sugar in my blood. They wanted me to retake the test. My husband went to pick up the form and the nurse told him there must have been some mistake I should not have that test until I further along. She assured him that the baby is fine and there must have been some sort of mix up. The nurse is going to call me back on Monday to let me know if I do need that test now. This is to check to see if I might have pregnancy diabetis. I am pretty worried about it. I dont understand it because I never have sugary foods.

As for everything else. Everything seems to going fine. My lower belly is sore alot , I pee all the time, and find myself tired more easy.

The OB booked my next ultra sound for June 19th (two weeks from now). Hopefully then I will find out the gender. I am sooo overly excited about that!!! My next OB appointment is for June 24th. My appointment went super fast I must have been in there a total of 10 mins tops if that.

I really like my OB but I will have to change because the one I am seeing now is in a different city then I live. I talked to her about it and she will not allow me to deliver at the hospital in my city (what happens to be right across the street from my house). She said I will have to find a new OB if i want to deliver here. I am going to keep my next appointment with her then move on to a new one in my city. There is no point driving all the way to a different city while in labour when I have a hospital right across the road!!

I am showing now. All my clothes are really tight around my belly. I guess I need to do some shopping. I was hoping to get away without doing it so soon because I had some larger clothes from before I lost a bunch of weight.

I cant believe I have made it this far. I am overly excited!!!
