| 21-9-2008 - 24 Weeks/Belly Pic/Nursery | My mood while writing this blog:Bloated but okay |
Surprise! I have a belly lol it came out this week majorly I think. I also have my first stretch marks.. ugh... two tiny ones on my left boob and a small one on my stomach where I have a scar from when I was a kid. Yikes and I have been lotioning up every night trying to avoid getting them but I think their still coming :(

On to other things- I have began on Joel's nursery! My sister Crystal has two little ones (Calvin is 3 and Evie just turned 1!) so she kept alot of her young baby stuff for me. Some toys.. a co-sleeper.. changing table pad..diaper bags.. very nice electric breast pump, etc. all sorts of cool things :) it was like having a early small babyshower. Very nice of her to save all that stuff for me!
This is his half of the closet. Since we only have two closets in the whole house he only gets half of a closet lol I have office stuff cramed in the other half! It's already getting full :/ I'm going to have to get creative with shelving!
All his clothes so far- I didn't think I had that much already until I started hanging it all up!
His co-sleeper with some stuff in it (just until I get some shelves for the closet). The co-sleeper is like a mini crib that attaches to my bed mattress... somehow.. lol I haven't figured it out yet! The two boppies Crystal gave me are in it under the mattress pad. One of them has a really cute cover with boats on it.
Blankets, shoes, jeans/shorts, and socks. Sitting in the co-sleeper until I get a dresser for him or some shelves in the closet!
After reading the 24 week pregnant notes I'm kinda worried about Joel a little bit. It says that he should be approx. 1.2 pounds.. He was only 14 oz at my last ultrasound (which was Monday). I know I am small but I hope that isn't affecting him. I eat a ton of stuff (98% healthy) so I thought that I was doing okay. His belly looked nice and chunky on the ultrasound! I have an appointment with my midwife tomorrow so I will ask her. The ultrasound tech also measured my amniotic fluid and made a ehhh sound when she tallied it up. She wouldn't tell me anything because she isn't a doctor so I'll have to ask my midwife when she reads the ultrasound report tomorrow. Hopefully everything is okay. What can be wrong/go wrong with the amniotic fluid? Maybe it is a little low? I have no idea..
I have been feeling him move all the time now. Alot at night when I am trying to go to sleep and not so much movement in the morning until I eat breakfast. It says that they don't have much room to somersault/flip anymore. He was in a sideways breech position with head on one side and feet sticking the other side. Pretty sure his feet are on my left side.. thats where I feel all the little kicks. He still has time to move doesn't he? Don't most babies move around for awhile during the pregnancy.. and then end up head down?
I think I worry to much..
This week your baby's crown-to-rump length is around 8.4 inches and your baby will weigh approximately 1.2 pounds. Although it weighs a little over a pound at this point, your growing baby is still tiny. Your uterus can easily be felt 1.5 to 2 inches above your bellybutton. The fetus does not appear to have much room in the uterus anymore, but as your pregnancy progresses, space gets much tighter!
Because your uterus is expanding and putting a great amount of pressure on your abdomen, you might get stretch marks. Your weight gain may also be taking a toll on your body at this point. Many pregnant women experience backaches, bladder problems, sore feet and fatigue that affect their daily routines. You might also have some nasal stuffiness or nosebleeds.
Your baby's face is basically complete now. The fetus's eyes are close together on the front of his face and they are still shut. Your baby's ears have moved into their final position on the sides of his head. Where they are now is where they will be when your baby is born! Hair will continue to grow on his scalp and his eyelashes are well developed. Most of your baby's features look the same as they will at birth. Because your growing baby is getting plumper, he no longer has room in your tummy to do cartwheels and somersaults.
Now is a good time to ask about prenatal classes being offered in your area. Many local hospitals offer classes for expectant women and their families. You should aim to complete the classes approximately one month before your due date.
You may sometimes get a stitch-like pain in your side from time to time. It's simply the muscles of the uterus stretching.
the unborn child is covered with a fine, downy hair called lanugo. Its tender skin is protected by a waxy substance called vernix. Some of this substance may still be on the child's skin at birth at which time it will be quickly absorbed.
The child practices breathing by inhaling (up to a liter/day) amniotic fluid into developing lungs.
