| 30-10-2008 - 29 Weeks! | My mood while writing this blog:Happy |
At this point in your pregnancy, your baby's crown-to-rump length is approximately 10.4 inches and the total length of your baby is around 16.7 inches. Your baby weighs about 2.7 pounds and continues to grow every day. If you measure from your bellybutton, your uterus is 3.5 to 4 inches above it. Total weight gain at this point is usually between 19 and 25 pounds.
Babies that are born prematurely can be very tiny. Even a baby that is only a few weeks early can be very small. Your baby will grow rapidly from now until week 36, and then at a slower rate thereafter. Generally, boys weigh more than girls at birth. The average baby's birth weight at full term is 7 to 7.5 pounds.
You might notice some leakage of colostrums from your breasts around this time. Colostrums is a sticky, watery substance that provides your baby's first food if you choose to breastfeed. Milk does not come in immediately after delivery and colostrums is high in calories and enough for your baby's first few days of life. Your baby is stimulating the production of colostrums. The baby's body is ensuring that there will be a readily available food supply after delivery.
Your baby will continue to open and close his eyes in the womb and may be able to see silhouettes of objects or even people in the right amount of light. Your baby should be moving many times throughout the day. Some of your baby's movements will be predictable and if you notice a decrease in fetal movements, you should lie down and do a fetal kick count. You should feel your baby move approximately ten times in an hour. If you do not notice the proper amount of movements, you should contact your healthcare provider.
Research has shown that your baby is not only able to hear, but also able to recognize your own voice. This shows that your baby can already learn, remember and recognize.

Wow almost 3/4s the way through! Sunday was the 29 week mark for me.. just a little behind in putting up the blog lol. I had my 28 week appointment and Joel was estimated at 2 pounds so he is getting along weight wise! I wish I could have another sonogram to see how big he is getting! My weight was at 17 pounds which is in the middle of the recommended weight gain but I lost some and am around 14 now.. not sure why I lost some pounds? I've been eating the exact same things! Boobs have been leaking since 23 weeks so this is norhing new lol sticky yucky goop! Never fails whenever I put on my silky robe they start to leak and I have to wash it :( I think the movement in a hour is off.. he never moves that much during the day!! I feel him mostly at night.. last night I got up to pee around 3:30 and he was just having so much fun moving around -_- I wanted to go back to sleep! lol! Hopefully he gets his schedule straight before being born!! My husband gets up at 5:30 to go to work and I KNOW he isn't going to appreciate the 3:30 wakeup call!! Maybe I should contact my midwife about the movements.. I almost never feel him during the day? I am able to hear his hearbeat on my little moniter now (not bad for 25 bucks from BabiesRUs!)! He still kicks at it so I only hear his heartbeat for a minute or so and then he hides.. I think he's going to be like me when I was little SHHHYY!! He hides from the doppler at the doctors office and was squirming around the whole time when I had my two ultrasounds.. sorry bub I just want to see you!
Anyways.. things are going good. I have been feeling fine.. tired but nothing out of the ordinary has been happenening. Oh besides back pain. My back kills me now :(
I think he is moveing around! My belly looks alot more rounder and lower than it did last week! I took this this morning.. so that's 29 weeks 5 days.
