Brandon-Jacob-Marlen`s birthstory
On Monday July 20th I went to my scheduled weekly doctors appt. and before going to the appt I had been having contractions but for some reason I dismissed them b/c I had been having BH for weeks and I did not think anything of it. Well I was a scheduled c-section and the last thing the doctor wanted was for me to go into labor. This would be my 4th section and due to the risk of uterine rupture he did not think that my uterus could handle labor. So when I got to the doctors office I was still having contractions and he checked me and said `Ohhh??` and I was like what?? and he said that my cervix was soft and that I had started to dialate. He did not say how much. He said that we could not take any chances so he wanted me to go straight upstairs to labor and delivery and he called surgery to put me on the schedule for 1 pm. I was like `But I don`t have a bag, or my husband, and I had planned on having a manicure and doing my hair before I had the c-section. The nurse said `well you are on your way upstairs and you can make a call to your hubby then`. So I called Keith from my cell phone and told him what was going on and He met me at the hospital with my parents, our other two children and my best-friend Marlene.
My surgery went well. I was 37 weeks and 4 days so I did not know if the baby was going to look small or something so that made me a little nervous. My epidural went fine and I was totally not even nervous. They sent for Keith to come in @ 2:00 pm and Brandon was born at 2:06pm. It was a great experience because even though this was my 4th c-section I had never experienced our babies crying as soon as they were born or being able to hold them and see them right after coming out. Brandon came out crying and it was like music to our ears. They did not have to do cpr or anything like with our others. They wrapped him in a blanket and just handed him to Keith so he could hold him. Brandon still had all the pasty stuff all over him and I had never seen that either with our other children. They let Keith hold him for like 10-15 mins and everyone in the surgery suite was saying happy birthday to Brandon. It was great! I was kissing him and I felt so blessed.
Now Brandon is 2 days old and he is as cute as ever. He is breast feeding like a champ and hopefully we will go home tomorrow. :0)
