When I woke up on Friday morning (September 19) I started having contractions, they were VERY tiny and very spaced apart. I continued to have these all day Friday and all day Saturday. I went to the hospital Saturday night, because I was hoping to get something to help me sleep. I was so exhausted and the contractions were just enough to be annoying enough to keep me from sleeping. But they didn't give me anything and told me I was only dilated to 1 still. So I went home and got a little bit of sleep and when I woke up on Sunday morning at about 7am, I could tell I was in real labor. I lost my mucous plug. My contractions were much more serious and I immediately took a hot bath. My mom and my doula came over around 11am and I was crying through most of my contractions at this point. I went to the bathroom around 12:30pm and noticed I was having bloody show and I felt slight pressure, so we headed to the hospital. We got there at about 1:15pm and I was dialted to an 8. I immediately got into the birthing tub and thats when my contractions really started getting bad. Transition was hell. There was a lip of my cervix that wouldn't dilate, so I was in transition for like 3-4 hours and towards the end I wanted the meds.. lol ..but I was so close that they told me no to the epidural (Thank God!) and gave me an IV with a dose of fetynal (sp?). But that was a big mistake, it did absolutely nothing for my pain, made me dizzy inbetween contractions, and caused my son to have trouble breathing after delivery. Anyways, he was born 5:46 PM and as soon as he came out, there was no more pain : ) It was all SOOOO worth it!! I'm so glad I decided to get a doula, she helped me to labor at home and made the natural delivery possible -- Thank you, Lacy!!

I went to my 39 week appt on Wednesday the 11th at 11:15am and she stripped my membranes again. I was dilated to a 4. I started having irregular contractions around 2pm that afternoon. I decided to wait until the contractions were lasting longer and coming closer to go to the hospital.
I checked into the hospital for the first time at 8pm and they checked me and said I was still only 5cm, so I had them ask my doctor if I could leave and come back when things felt more intense. She said yes and we didn't have to get stuck in the hospital, thank goodness.
We left and walked around Wal-Mart and then stopped at IHOP so my mom and husband could get some food and coffee. As we were leaving IHOP and getting ready to head to the hospital anyway, my water broke as soon as I sat in the car.
We checked back into the hospital for the 2nd time at 11pm and I was dilated to a 6. My contractions were pretty intense by then, so I switched off from sitting on a birthing ball and rocking through them or standing and leaning on my husband. At Wal-Mart, we had bought a pink stress ball made by Danskin. That thing was like my security object all throughout labor. It was like Tom Hanks "wilson" in Castaway lol
At about 1am, they filled up the tub and I got in. At about 2, she checked me and there was a small lip of my cervix that was still there, so I had to turn on my side and push through a contraction. (I had to do the same thing with Blydan) And then it disappeared and the next thing you know, she was crowning. From the time we saw her head, it was like 5 min and 3 contractions later that I was holding her.
She looked like a tiny version of her big brother when she first popped out, now she looks similar, but unique in very many ways.
I had a lot of bleeding and had to be given pitocin and methergine after delivery, so I have had HORRIBLE afterbirth pains and i have a few stitches from a 1st degree tear. She's been breastfeeding like a champ and I'm so happy to be the mommy to 2 incredible little angels!! : )
