Aubrey-Grace`s birthstory
All day thursday I was having Contractions that felt very crampy. I went on a couple of walks to stimulate my contractions ( little did i know what i was in for) With No progress I gave up. I went to bed around 2ish but the contractions were starting to get so strong that I couldnt sleep. I was so tired that i actually dozzed between the contractions which were coming at 5- 10min apart. We didnt think anything was serious because everyone always says to wait until they get 3min apart or so. at about 6am I couldnt take the pain! We called the midwife and she talked me through a relaxation technique..to breath nice and long through the peak of the contraction and then to breathe normal through the rest of it. This worked until about 10am. We called her again and she said to come on in! we took our time! I took a short shower and Kevin put all the stuff in the truck. Little did I know that I was 6cm!!! He even stopped to get lunch and coffee! again we didnt think i had dilated that much. We got to the clinic and she checked me.. 6cm. She predicted that Aubrey would be born within a few hours. WELL that didnt happen!!!! We we got there i went straight to the birthing ball..Ladies...its amazing! I sat on it and hunched myself over the bed during a contraction..they stayed at 5min apart. I got really nauseated and threw up my lunch. That was actually a relief! My midwife said that i should walk around and do squats. It was really really painful but it would help dilate me faster. My sister who was my coach was awesome! she helped me focus because i really didnt want to do those squats. I actually pleaded not too, but i was taking to long to dilate and well we needed to get this baby out. Little did I know that I wasnt dilating to 10cm because i Had a Cervical lip that wouldnt move out of the way. If i were at a hospital they would of given me a C-section because i was experiencing 10cm contractions with NOOOO progress and no desire to push. So at about 6ish we decided to try and push anyways. Wow it was really painful..and i wasnt really good at pushing..i couldnt get the sensation right. So i just thought to bear down. After that we gave up and she wanted me to go do more squats..I did about two of them and made it very very clear that i was not doing anymore. So i came in and layed down on my husband and continued to nicely breathe through my contractions. When i couldnt take it anymore, i asked if i could try pushing again. She came in and we started up! I still wasnt pushing good enough so during a contraction my midwife moved my cervical lip out of the way ( which made me want to kick her but i didnt). Aubrey`s head was also tilted so she wasnt wanting to come down the canal. My midwife did me a favor and didnt tell me this info, so i wouldnt get discouraged. It took me 3 hours to push her out! i finally started timing my contractions to the push at the PEAK..which i thought i was doing, but i wasnt. I`m not going to Lie...it was really painful. I knew i had to get it over with because its not like i could stop. Feeling her FINALLY come out was amazing!!!!! she was put on my chest and just stared right at me. Her cord was wrapped around her neck, but she was ok=) I pushed her out pretty fast torwards the end. seeing her crown really encouraged me using a mirror. She nursed right away..it was such a relief to not have any more contractions=) She is sooooo beautful..I love her so much. Sleep is something that is earned with patience=) but she`ll get everything down! BTW ladies, I used the Bradley Method...its the only way to go if you dont want to use meds.
