Jack-Elias-Garner`s birthstory

We went into the hospital for induction at 7AM. At the time, I was 70% effaced and 1 cm dilated. I was given pitocin, and the doctor broke my water at 8AM. Contractions started and were tolerable at first. My goal was to make every attempt at a natural child birth, without any pain medication. My husband was wonderful and helped me sit on the birthing ball, walk around the room and use the breathing exercises. At 5 1/2 cm dilated - 2:30PM - I called for the epidural and made the anesthesiologist my new best friend. I felt so much better after that! At 5:00PM, I was fully dilated and ready to push. 45 minutes later (after pointedly not pushing for several contractions because we were waiting on the doc) Jack Elias was born! It was the most surreal and amazing feeling I`ve ever had. When they lifted him up and out for me to see, I was so amazed there was actually a baby in there!
