Alexis-Grace`s birthstory

BOY was this a story.
On December 19th at approx 3:30am i began contracting at 5=7min appart and pritty painul. i didnt think anything of it at first since ive had quite a bit of false labour. At 4:30 they got to about 3-5min appart and more painul so i got out of bed and began walking around the house to see if they would go away. They didnt. At 7:30am i woke my husband up and although we werent sure i we should go to the hospital we decided to go and get checked just incase. We took our time getting our stuff and getting ready. At 9:00am we were in Triage, i was 2cm and 75% effaced. They told me to go grab some breakfast and go walking around for an hour and come back, so we did. An hour later i was still 2cm but 100%. They decided to have me admitted and sent me walking some more. one hr later i was 4cm and they decided to break my water (my contractions were still really strong at this point) they also gave me pitocin to help move things along, I had Muconin in the water as well as blood so they monitored her quite a bit for signs of stress but she looked good.

I went into the labour room and a short time later recieved my epidural which made it feel much better at first however my left side didnt take very well. Throughout i got topped up 4 times on the epidural and it wasnt taking effect. Finally at about 10pm i was 9cm and the Ob came to check and was very concerned that the baby was not engaged in my pelvic area. He said that the way its looking the baby`s head would not fit through. so he decided to do a c-section instead. The only problem was that the hospital was going to have a power outage at 12am and they werent sure how long before they would get the power back up. They finally decided that they would wait to do the power outage untill i was done with the C section and out of the OR. (thank god cause i was so tired and in soo much pain i could cry, the Epi was fading REALLY fast at this point and Nothing helped).

Shortly after midnight i got rolled into the OR. The anastesiologist came in and gave me the drugs several times cause i kept feeling it. After my skin was numb the doc began cutting and i felt sharp pain, i told them and they gave me more drugs. As the doc cut deeper and deeper i felt more and more. by the time he was tugging on the baby to get her out i was crying and yelling `i can feel it, it hurts` over and over again, more drugs but no relief... Finally the doc said to put me under general anastesia and knock me out. So i got gassed and hubby got kicked out. i fell asleep with the general however i never became fully `out` i could hear EVERYTHING around me and i continued to feel everything but now i couldnt speak or say anything,

Finally i felt her come out and heard her cry! the best moment of my life....Then i began to hemorage. They attempted to massage my unterus to contract it for what felt like forever it hurt so bad!! That didnt work so they shot it full of some drug to contract it instantly. When i felt the stiches go in i knew it wouldnt be long before the pain was over!!

I began to wake up and there was my husband! I could hear our baby girl crying as she was getting cleaned up and i kept trying to tell him to leave me and go take pictures of her since i couldnt see but because of the general anastesia i wasnt making any sence (luckly he got the point when i pushed him in her direction). He was so concerned about me that he didnt want to leave my side.

I finally got out of the OR and off to see my baby and recovery. Even with my worst nightmare come to life in feeling and being awake through an operation i want to add that she was worth EVERY moment!!

I could not believe she was 9lbs and 2 ounces. She had a bit of a cone head from trying to force her way through my pelivs and a bruise on her forehead from her hitting my bones.
