Sawyer-Douglas`s birthstory
OMG, where to even begin?
I was supposed to be induced at 41 weeks but the hospital had no beds, so then it got pushed to the next day, which got pushed to the next day. I was finally admitted 41 weeks plus 2 days and recieved cervidol around 8:30pm (checked in @ 3:00) I started cramping immediately and contractions came every minute and thirty seconds within a couple hours. Got checked @ 3am and had made no progress. Checked again at 7:30AM and was favorable to go down to L&D to recieve epidural but again, no beds. So labored all day and was finally taken down to L&D around dinner time. Contraction were really strong but a little further apart then previously. Got checked about an hour after arrival and was 4 cm. Recieved epidural. Progressed to 6 cm pretty quickly but soon started to notice that the epidural wasn`t working. It missed a spot, unfortunately the entire pelvic region which is where I was feeling the contractions the strongest. Got checked around 11pm and was 8-9cm. Suddenly without any indication baby crashed and was rushed in a CODE 99 for emergency c-section. During prep baby`s heart rate started to come back up and the section was called. Wheeled back to delivery room, and baby crashed again and nearly headed to section again but heart rate went up. Long story short for the following 4 hours with no epidural working OB had hands in my vagina trying to turn Sawyer`s head. Had to fight that pain, plus pain of contractions plus urge to push. Tried pushing but baby`s head just wouldn`t come down. After 35 hours it was called and I had a section. Sawyer`s head was tilted up and facing up and there was no way he would ever have come out vaginally. Wish we could have known that 35 hours previously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But he`s home and i`m recovering slowly but surely. He was worth every second!
