This is long overdue but here we go. Lol.. I decided on an elective csection because my doctor said it was best to deliver me sooner than later because I had developed high blood pressure and it was estimated that my baby was going to be over 10 lbs. I had the choice to be induced or a csection. I did not want to be induced because I had yet to start dilating or effacing at 39 weeks 1 day at all! I did not want to go through hours of long labor to maybe end up with a csection anyways so that was my choice. So the day of December 30, 2009 we went into the hospital at 10 am. I was put on an iv and hooked up to a monitor and I was contracting but it hadn't been doing anything! At 12 pm.. we were taking to the OR and I was adminstered the spinal.. it only burned a little and it kind of hurt towards the end because I could feel the needle hitting my spine.. but it worked really well. I was numb instantly! I got a little nauseous from the spinal and threw up... it took 4 doses of medicine to stop me from being sick again lol. At about 12:15 my fiance was able to come in to the room and the surgery began. When the doctor went to pull out my little boy... all I felt was a little bit of pressure but nothing painful. They tried pulling him out 3 times.. he kept going back under my ribs lol but finally at 12:29 pm... he finally arrived weighing 8 lbs 2 oz. and was 20 inches long. When I first heard his loud cry I teared up... he was absolutley beautiful! He did have a big bruise around his left eye where the doctor couldn't get him out but it went away by day 3. I will always remember this day! In the end, I was very happy with my decision to have a csection because the nurse said his cord was wrapped around his feet 4 times and there was no way I could have delivered vaginally. She said if I had been induced... his heartrate would have dropped and there was a chance of the placenta ripping way and I would have ended up with an emergency csection. So my decision was a smart one! My recovery went really well.. I was up in 12 hours and once I got up.. there was no stopping me. My pain was very minimal and by day 3.. I didn't need any pain medications. On day 4, we got to the leave the hospital and I was happy about that haha!
