Jacob-Daniel`s birthstory
I woke up on Sunday morning and went to the bathroom. I thought maybe my water was leaking so at about 2:30p we finally decided to go to L&D just to check on it. When we got there they did the pH test to check, and of course my water had NOT broken. While I was there they were monitoring me. My blood pressure was pretty high, along with my heart rate and his heart rate. They called my doctor and the next thing I know a nurse comes in the room and says `Dr. Reed called and said start her on pittosin (sp?) I`ll be in to break her water`. My fiance and I were freaking out!! We were so excited! We started calling everyone. So at 4:08 my water was broken. It didn`t hurt at all. A couple hours later the anesthesiologist came in and gave me my epidural. 2 hrs later I was still not numb what so ever, I was literally going pee in a bed pan everytime I had to go. So, anyways, they called the anesthesiologist to come back to the hospital. He did it again, and this time he did it a vertebrae higher in my back. It actually started working and I ended up having like an anxiety attack, my BP went way down and they had to give me 2 shots of epinephrine to get my BP back up. Literally like an hr later, the epidural was not working again. They gave me a couple Bolis shots (wich is basically like a local anesthetic that they were puting in my epidural catheter). Eventually that wasn`t working either. It was getting later and later and everytime the nurse checked me I could feel it. The contractions really weren`t that bad at all, I could feel the pain of his head down there when I would have one but that I could handle. When it was time for me to push I was getting really nervous. I could feel everything. The doctor had me do a few sets of pushes and his head was getting closer and closer to coming out but I was exhausted...i had been in labor for like 14 hrs already. He got the forceps out, gave me some local anesthetic down there, which hurt like HELLLLLLLL I was screaming when he did that!! And then he said push, I did, and he started pulling the baby out. Let me tell you that its all a blurr from there...I just remember it being the worst pain ever, I was screaming and crying and my fiance said I was trying to like pull my self away from the doctor, like off the bed. I remember everyone in the room telling me to breathe and that he was almost there and just telling me to keep pushing, and then....HE POPPED OUT!!!! Everyone was crying, even a couple nurses (I think becuase of the pain that I was in). He is so perfect I couldn`t ask for anything better. We love him so much!!! He was born at 37 weeks 1 day and was 6lbs 12oz....I cringe when I think about what he would have been if I`d gone to 40 weeks!!!! Anyways, We got to go home on wednesday and we are both doing very well!!! Oh yea, I`m sure a lot of you are curious so I`ll just tell you...I did not have an episiotomy, but I did tear, 2nd degree so not too bad. The first couple days is really sore but it really gets so much better. They say that the forceps can really cause a lot of swelling and tearing, so we`re thinking that`s why I was so sore. That little squirt bottle is my best friend!!! They also give you pads that actually are like ice packs that you put in your undies that they give you...those were my best friend too. That`s all!! If anyone has any questions just ask!! :-)
