Charlotte-Lily-Parke`s birthstory
I went into the labour ward at 7.30am and they put the fetal monitor on for an hour. The Dr came in at around 8.30am and broke my water. He said he should have worn a rain coat because apparently i had a fair amount of fluid around her!! At 9.45am they started the syntocin and that got my contractions started fairly straight away. I was doing ok but they were increasing the amounts every 15mins. I didn`t handle them very well at all so I asked the midwife for an epidural. She acted as though she didn`t hear me and just kept writing things down. I had to ask her a few more times a little more intensly than previously and she said that the Dr was in a meeting and that he would be down in 10-15mins to check on me. She needed to observe how far apart my contractions were....Would have been nice if she said that in the first place. The other midwife came in and did a VE and said `Yep, you qualify for an epidural you are 4-5cm dilated.` Bugger qualifying! This isn`t no 100 meter race!
The doctor finally came in after what seamt like ages and started getting the procedure ready. My poor husband has finger print bruises in his biceps from helping me sit up during the epidural. I was having some fairly intense pain going on! After the epidural kicked in it was wonderful! At 1pm they checked me and said that her head was coming down and they stopped the epidural. I started pushing from then and at 2pm her head was half way out. I didn`t think I would get it out! a few more pushes and our little girl entered the world. She was beautiful. A big one at 9lbs! and her head was 38cm!! No wonder She wasn`t coming out easily! Our little 2 year old is so proud and excited with our new addition. My husband and I are so proud of our two little girls!
