Riley-Irving`s birthstory

They had been watching me for a few weeks because they were concerned about the weight of the baby. On the Friday before my due date (which was Saturday) the doctor determined that the baby was too large to exit vaginally so they scheduled a c-section for Monday.

My parents came up for the weekend and we finished decorating the nursery and putting loose ends together. Sunday we went out to dinner at the Melting Pot because I wanted to have a big meal as I had to fast until after the surgery. We ate around 8 or 9 worked around the house a little more and went to bed.

We checked in to the hospital at 1 and went in to pre-op at 2. I was very nervous and they had to stick me about 7 times in order to get an IV in. I think that was the worst part of the whole day. After they did the IV, I got the epidural. I was scared, but it really wasn`t bad at all. They wheeled me in to the operating room by myself in order to prep me for the actual procedure. Then they called my husband in and had the baby out with in a few minutes. He was BEAUTIFUL. I couldn`t hold him because of the medication, but I just remember thinking `I can`t believe he came from me.` All 9.9 pounds of him. My husband left with the baby they finished me up and took me in to recovery where my husband and son were waiting for me. I had to be in recovery for about an hour and 1/2. As I was in recovery they took Riley to the nursery to do his vitals and testing (my husband went with).

At around 8 o`clock pm, we were settled in our room. We had a great few days, the incision was sore and I had some recovering to do, but having the baby there made everything so much easier. The whole experience was much better than I could have ever imagined.
