Rebekah-Lynne`s birthstory
On Monday my water started leaking. I was at the hospital first thing in the morning. They put me in triage for observation and to check to see if I was dilated or not. The triage nurses called over to my OB whose office is right across the street and he told me to come over to see him in his office. I was like oh no this means I am going home. Jonathan was on his way to work in New York when I had called him that morning and he had decided to rent a car and come home right away. I was like what a waste of time and money to rent a car and then I don`t even have a baby. Dr. Mall wound up sending me home because he said that it could take awhile and if I go back to the hospital I could be there all night with nothing happening. So i went home.
On Tuesday I went grocery shopping to walk around and I was having some pretty good contractions in the store, but I thought I am not going to the hospital to be sent home again. I went to bed because I was feeling really dizzy and I had a terrible headache.
I woke up at two oclock Wednesday morning with another gush of fluid leaking. I waited for two hours to wake Jonathan up. I told him to wake up and he just kind of grunted and then I said your going to be a dad and he said okay... and didn`t move. Then i said today and he was like okay I`m up.
At the hospital I was put right back in triage and i thought oh no there is no way they will keep me, but when they called over to Dr. Mall`s office he told them to keep me. I was admitted to the hospital at 3 cm dilated. I decided that I didn`t want the epidural... and I`m not entirely sure why I decided that only that I did. I did however have some nubain (or however you spell it) It took the edge off of the contractions but I could still feel every one. About an hour and a half after the first dose of nubain I started feeling terrible contractions. They would peak at anywhere from a nine to off the charts and level off at about a 6. I asked for a second dose of nubain and they gave it to me, but it didn`t help at all. Dr. Mall told the nurse to give me some demoral to try to help with the pain, but that didn`t really help either. (The demoral was sort of funny though because I was like totally out of it when I wasn`t in pain.) My contractions got really strong and just when I thought that I couldn`t take the pain anymore it would ease up... it was really neat that my body sort of knew what i could handle. Labor went really really fast and by the second shot of nubain i was 7 cm dilated and by the shot of demoral about 10-15 min later i was 8 1/2- 9. The nurse asked me to practice pushing with the contractions because she said these things take time and your a first time mom and we want to make sure you are doing it right and you know how to do it etc etc. So I started pushing and she was like that is great. Just like everything else the baby decided she was coming out quickly. The nurse told me to breath through the contractions to wait until Dr. mall came over from his office and I said I didn`t really care if he was there or not. He came through the door and said `well that`s not very nice` Fifteen minutes after I started pushing Rebekah was born. She weighed in at 6 pounds, 8 ounces and she was 19 and 3/4 inches. When she came out they put her on my belly and she opened her eyes real wide and grabbed onto my gown with both fists. It was precious.
Because she came so fast i had to get an episiotomy and the incision tore as well. After Rebekah arrived Dr. Mall was stitching me up and every time he put in a stitch I would say ouch, and he said to Jonathan there is no way she can feel that, and truth be told I have no idea if I felt it or not because the demoral finally was working.
We went home on Good Friday and she has been a really really good baby the whole time. I breast feed, and let me tell you that it does get frustrating sometimes when they are crying their little eyes out and won`t relax enough to latch on, but I am so glad that I do breast feed because it is the best thing for her, especially because of her being three weeks early.
Looking back, I was kind of disenchanted by her birth. After Rebekah was born all of the pain meds finally hit me all at once. I didn't have time to think about her to count her fingers and toes because I was so out of it. All I could do was lay back on the bed and watch her in the next room and ask my doctor the same questions over and over again.... Is she really a girl? How much did she weigh? How long was she? When can I hold her? Then our first encounter was me trying to focus on her almost like an out of body experience. It was really strange and I would not want to have that kind of experience ever again.

Well I have been thinking that my water was leaking for about a week now, but there was no signs of it when the doctors checked me, so I kept getting sent home. Well on Saturday I had terrible back pain and cramps that went to the front of my belly. I called down and my doctor said to come in to be examined. When I got there he said some very hateful words... we`ll observe you for an hour and then if there is progress we will keep you... if not I`m sorry but I have to send you home!
LOL well ladies at that point I looked down at my belly put my hands there and said listen little one this is your official eviction notice! That was at 7:25. As 7:30, right after the doctor decided to leave and call back in an hour I felt like i was peeing all over myself. I was like mom, I don`t care what they said before, my water is def. broke! So he came back real quick and checked and said what do you think looks like amniotic fluid to me. Th nurse agreed and i was finally admitted to the hospital. That night I was having strong off the chart contractions that were coming at regular intervals, and then... i fell asleep! I guess that was a bad idea because my contractions stopped all together. At four oclock in the morning they started pitocin because my membranes were already ruptured and I had Group B show up in my urine cultures. They had to come in every 15 to 20 minutes and turn up the Pit. until it was almost coming at full strength. But then I wasn`t dialating. I was stuck at 2 cm.
My doctor came in in the morning and said let`s see what is going on here. He checked me and said that there was a small bag of water trapped between the baby`s head and the cervix and he was sure that if he broke it, everything would move along faster. So he did and I was in a tremendous amount of pain. I thought that i would wait until 5 cm to get the nubain this time thinking that it would work longer and help more. But i broke down and got the nubain then at two cm. I thought that it would help me relax enough to get things progressing. Well things def. started moving after that. I quickly got to 4 cm and the nubain was not doing anything to even touch the contractions so I asked for an epidural. My OB ( a man ) said that I could have demoral but that I shouldn`t have an epidural. Well the demoral made me feel really tired and then it made me puke.... everywhere... my poor hubby and those poor nurses. I kept apologizing because I just felt so bad. The demoral didn`t touch the contractions either so an hour later i begged for the epidural. I was checked and thank God I was still at 5, so I could have one. The contractions at that point were long and hard and hurt like... alot :). So i got the epidural... which I always said I wouldn`t do, but do not regret doing in the least. The nurse told me to rest a bit while I waited to give birth and I was all for that idea... However five minutes later I feel soo much pain and pressure and I was like Jonathan go get the nurse I have to push right now. And he was like baby don`t push baby don`t push. (I just love when people say that like your body is giving you any say in the matter.) Well the nurse came in and said Dr. Mall will be right in. He came in and said how are you doing? And i was look good can I push now. He was like sure thing go ahead. The nurse said you might want to be dressed before you do that. He looked over and was like oh yeah well wait until I get my gloves on. Three little pushes later and a small episiotomy John Micheal was born!
Looking back on his delivery I was much happier with it. The epidural took the pain away and I got to rest just a little bit before I had to run a marathon of giving birth... Then after he was born, I held him and I cuddled him. I even got to nurse him right away I was also there and I felt like I could connect with him right away. I was so much happier with the way this birthing expierence went and I know that some of you dont agree with me... but I loved the epidural and I would have one again!

Missed Miscarriage at 5 weeks
I started bleeding after I was 4 days late. I had heavy bleeding for 3 days straight and I had to get pain medacine. I thought that it was just a flair up of endometriosis, but when I had a confirmed miscarriage in November, I knew I had had a miscarriage in September as well.

Miscarriage number 2... At just 6 weeks along
I found out I was pregnant. I was overjoyed because we had just started actually trying in October. I got my positive pregnancy test really early and was so excited. I started planning out ways to tell everyone that we were having another baby. I bought big brother and big sister shirts and started on my journey of pregnancy expecting nothing other than 9 blissful months of pregnancy. Just three weeks after I found out though I started bleeding. I had heavy bleeding for three days and then spotting. I went through a really hard time after I lost this baby because I knew then that I had had a miscarriage in September as well...

I had been testing once a month since my last miscarriage. My husband and I were actively NOT TRYING to get pregnant. I had not gotten a normal period since I had my last miscarriage, but I just chalked it up to all of the out of control hormones rather than pregnancy. But I took a pregnancy test at my doc office in order to take a medication that she wanted to put me on for an ear infection. And that was negative. Then this month I still hadnt gotten a period and I was feeling super run down. So I took a test and bam it was positive. This time I was spotting the same day and having pain. I was praying that it would be endometriosis but it wasnt. The ultrasound showed a uterus full of tissue and no baby and my hormones were dropping. So I had an in office D&C with novicaine. It was a intense 20 minutes, let me tell you, but I am glad it is over and I don't have to wait around for the m/c to start or end...
