Alfie-John-Christopher-Parker`s birthstory

I started getting pains around 1am on Friday (26th Sept). The pains got more regular throughout the day, so I went into hospital around 11pm that night. I had wanted to have a waterbirth, but my contractions slowed down while I was in the water, so I had to get out!
I had to have my waters broken as I wasn`t progressing past 8cm and thats when the contractions got more intense. I was nearly fully dilated but wasn`t really coping with the pain, so at 8am on Saturday morning, I had some pethidine. I think I was so tired as I had been up for over 24 hours.
The pethidine did make me drowsy, but I was still able to push. Baby`s head wasn`t coming down as quickly as the midwives wanted to, so after an hour and a half of pushing, they asked if I wanted a little help getting baby out. By this point, I was so tired and just wanted to meet our baby, that it was agreed they would perform a kiwi ventouse to help baby out.
Alfie was born at 10.42am. I had to have a little episiotomy but it was all worth it to hold our baby in my arms!
When the midwives offered me the ventouse, I did feel like a bit of a failure that I couldn`t push baby out on my own, but when they weighed Alfie and it said he was 9lb, I realised I may have been pushing for a long time if I did not have any intervention!! He must have had a big head! lol
I will add some pictures soon x
