Pretty long story
Wednesday night, Oct 15th, lost my mucus plug at about 8:30pm. Hubby and I already started to get nervous then!! Went to bed at midnight, feeling fine. Was awoken at 2:30am with a painful contraction. Started having contractions every 5 minutes, and this kept up for a little over 2 hours. Then they started to get erraticsometimes 5 minutes apart, sometimes 15 minutes. They were painful enough to keep me up all night long. At 7am, Mike (hubby) and I decided to go to the hospital.
At the hospital, contractions were between 8-16 minutes apart. I was only 1 cm dilated and 80 % effaced. They said I could stay a few hours and see how it went, but we decided to go home. The contractions never stopped, but werent getting consistent either. And they were painful! All daylong! I couldnt sleep through any of them. I was running on that 2 hours sleep I had gotten. In the early evening, I had the bloody show. Quite nasty!! After the bloody show, Mike was really watching me. He walked around with a note pad recording every contraction. The contractions got more and more painful, but still no consistency to them. I had intended to wait until they were 5 minutes apart for at least an hour, but once I had a few in a row that made me actually cry, Mike said we were going to the hospital. That was just about midnight, and they were about 7 minutes apart.
They admitted me right away at the hospital. When they checked me, I was only 2 cm dilated and 90 % effaced!!! Couldnt believe I was in so much pain for nearly 24 hours for only 2 cm! They ended up giving me some Morphine in hopes I would sleep. It still wasnt enough pain relief to sleep, but it was enough pain relief to shut up all the noises I was making so Mike could sleep in the recliner next to me. Lol. When the Morphine wore off hours later, I was really bad pain. So they tried something else, but I have no memory of what the drug was. It again wasnt enough to help me sleep, but enough to keep me somewhat comfortable. But then I got terrible nausea and uncontrollable shivering, so Zofran was added too. Think I got a little nap in after that.
By 7am Friday, my contractions were 4 minutes apart, so everyone thought on was well on my way. By 9am, they were back to 7 minutes apart! So frustrating. So by 10am, the nurses started paging my doctor cause they really just wanted to get me an epi and pitocin so I could be put out of my misery. My doctor was not responding and the nurses were getting so mad. Turns out my doc was in surgery.
So finally got an epi at like 1:15pm. It didnt work. Numbed my left thigh..that was it. So they came back and redid my epi at 1:45pm. And started the pitocin at that time. I was 4cm dilated at this point.
I flew through dilation the next hour. My water broke on its own at 8.5 cm, and it had Meconium in it. I was ready to go by 3pm. Even though I had the epi, I felt unbelievable pressureit was all in my butt. I felt every single contractions and really needed to push. They didnt want me to push yet cause Logan still had to do some dropping. I was crying to Mike that he had to go get someone cause I had to push, but every time Mike stood up, another contractions would hit and Id cry dont leave me!! lol. Doc then came in and told me to go ahead and bare down with contractions, not exactly push. At 3:45 it was time to push! But now we were in a hurry cause of the meconium and the cord was wrapped tight around his chest causing his heart rate to keep dropping dramatically. Even though he was a little guy, he had a massive head. So I got an episiotomy....sucks. After every round of pushing, Id say I couldnt do anymore, but then 5 seconds later Id yell Im readyIm going again!. Lol. Doc said I was one of the best pushers she'd ever had! :) Logan was out at 4:18pm! Once his head was out, the rest of his body just fell out!
