Maxwell-Edward-Songer`s birthstory

I was at work Saturday, 2-2. At about 11am I started having contractions 10-15min apart. I worked the rest of my 12 hour shift, until 7:30 pm and then went home. My contractions became 10 min apart from 8pm-11pm. I went to bed and had contractions all night long, waking up in pain. I took a shower at about 3:30am and then threw-up. Yuck! At about 5am I decided to go to the hospital because my contractions were about 5 min apart. I was 4-5 cm dilated and 90% effaced upon arrival. I labored until about 10am and then started pushing. I pushed forever and then had to have a vacuum assisted birth. I had absolutely no pain meds and it was the worst pain ever! My baby was perfect and beautiful and had a full head of hair. Sunday night he started vomiting green stuff and on Monday had to have an abdominal xray and an Upper GI study. My little Maxwell had an ileus (a dilation of his intestine) and spent 5 days in the NICU with a tube down his mouth into his stomach and an IV. It was the scariest, most intense week of my life. Yesterday, we got to bring him home and last night was our first night in our home together. We somehow managed to make it through without him ever having to get a bottle!! I am so excited we managed to exclusively breast feed during all this drama. The nurses and doctors were amazing and supportive every step of the way.
