Presley-Tucker`s birthstory
On April 23rd I was up all night till about 5am. Just very crampy and having major BH. So, I finally fell asleep and woke up at 10am to a weird feeling. It was a different kind of contraction and I just had a feeling. I got the stop watch out and started timing them. They went from 11 to 9 to 7 to 5 minutes apart lasting about 30 seconds. I decided to call the nurse and she told me to come see the doc and if need be they will send me to l&d and to bring my bags. We get to the doctor and he checks me. NO CHANGE in my cervix. I was crying and so upset. I went home at 3cm 60% effaced. My sister ended up coming over later on that evening, because she knew I was upset. Contractions were still coming so she was timing them and teaching me how to breath through them. It was finally 9pm and I told her she mine as well leave, because nothing is happening. She decided to stay for another 30 minutes and help me to fall asleep. When all the sudden the contractions picked up in intensity. In two hours they were 4 mins apart and 90 seconds long. I was in horrible pain and didn't want anyone to touch me, talk or move. My sister said this is it and I called the answering service and they told me to get to the hospital ASAP. We arrive at the hospital at midnight and the nurses sprung into action. They checked my cervix and I was a full 6 cm 100% effaced. I received my epidural within 20 minutes of my arrival. PRAISE THE EPIDURAL!!! About an hour later I started feeling the contractions again and the nurse was like let me check you. Sure enough my water broke! So, the nice drug doctor came in again and I was feeling good. By about 5am I had pretty much stalled out at 8cm, so they started some pitocin at 7am. I really wanted my doc to deliver Presley, so they took their time with the pitocin. Doctor came in around 7:45am and discussed what was about to happen and the pushing began. Then I started to spark a 101 fever and they were worried the baby would get a serious infection. So, they explained to me that they were going to have a team from the NICU in the room and Presley would go with them after the birth. So, I pushed for a bit over an hour and Presley kept going back up into my pelvis. The doctor said he would probably have to use forceps and I was not having that. So, I got all my energy and pushed like no ones business and he was out. They took him straight to the NICU and I didn't even get to hold him till 20 minutes after his life, which killed me! Then I got to see him for 2 minutes and then had to wait a whole six hours till I could go to the NICU. That was the hardest part for me, because I just wanted my baby. Though they had to administer antibiotics for 48 hours and monitor him.
