Presley-Tucker`s birthstory
On April 23rd I was up all night till about 5am. Just very crampy and having major BH. So, I finally fell asleep and woke up at 10am to a weird feeling. It was a different kind of contraction and I just had a feeling. I got the stop watch out and started timing them. They went from 11 to 9 to 7 to 5 minutes apart lasting about 30 seconds. I decided to call the nurse and she told me to come see the doc and if need be they will send me to l&d and to bring my bags. We get to the doctor and he checks me. NO CHANGE in my cervix. I was crying and so upset. I went home at 3cm 60% effaced. My sister ended up coming over later on that evening, because she knew I was upset. Contractions were still coming so she was timing them and teaching me how to breath through them. It was finally 9pm and I told her she mine as well leave, because nothing is happening. She decided to stay for another 30 minutes and help me to fall asleep. When all the sudden the contractions picked up in intensity. In two hours they were 4 mins apart and 90 seconds long. I was in horrible pain and didn't want anyone to touch me, talk or move. My sister said this is it and I called the answering service and they told me to get to the hospital ASAP. We arrive at the hospital at midnight and the nurses sprung into action. They checked my cervix and I was a full 6 cm 100% effaced. I received my epidural within 20 minutes of my arrival. PRAISE THE EPIDURAL!!! About an hour later I started feeling the contractions again and the nurse was like let me check you. Sure enough my water broke! So, the nice drug doctor came in again and I was feeling good. By about 5am I had pretty much stalled out at 8cm, so they started some pitocin at 7am. I really wanted my doc to deliver Presley, so they took their time with the pitocin. Doctor came in around 7:45am and discussed what was about to happen and the pushing began. Then I started to spark a 101 fever and they were worried the baby would get a serious infection. So, they explained to me that they were going to have a team from the NICU in the room and Presley would go with them after the birth. So, I pushed for a bit over an hour and Presley kept going back up into my pelvis. The doctor said he would probably have to use forceps and I was not having that. So, I got all my energy and pushed like no ones business and he was out. They took him straight to the NICU and I didn't even get to hold him till 20 minutes after his life, which killed me! Then I got to see him for 2 minutes and then had to wait a whole six hours till I could go to the NICU. That was the hardest part for me, because I just wanted my baby. Though they had to administer antibiotics for 48 hours and monitor him.

Canon Reece Sex: boy Born: 19 November, 2009 Age: 2 years & 88 days Birthday in: 277 days Starsign: Scorpio Development: See the 26 months page. Biggest achievement so far: - |
Birth details
Original due date: December 8, 2009
Type of delivery: Vaginal (with pain relief)
Duration of labor: 23 Hours
Weight @ birth: 7.5
Length @ birth: 19 inches
I can't not believe I am already writing the birth story of Canon. Even
though I was so ready to have him here, I miss being pregnant. So far
we have been doing great! Presley has been kissing Canon and helping me
burp him. I got to spend 4 hours alone with Canon this morning while
Daddy and Presley ran errands and went to the airport to watch
airplanes. I am so blessed to have such an amazing husband who is
active with the boys. I just can't stop thanking God for my beautiful
family.
Now onto the good stuff!! Wednesday night mom came over as she does
every night to eat dinner and see Presley. During dinner I started
having some weird pains, but mostly in my back. I was started to get a
little worried, because I just felt that something was not right.
Though I was only 37.1 weeks, I figured it was just braxton hicks.
These pains kept coming and coming and finally I laid down and they
went away. So, i got up took a shower and took my unisom and climbed
into bed. Colin and I were just laying there discussing what else needs
to be done before Canon gets here, when all the sudden I felt something
coming out and I flew out of bed. Thank God I made it to the tile
floor, because the flood gates had opened. Colin jumped out of bed and
called my mom and at first she thought we were joking, but we weren't.
I called my doctor and grabbed my bags, but I had to straighten my hair
first. During that my neighbor Stace and Melanie came over and they
fixed my hair for me as the contractions started kicking in. We finally
left for the hospital and I got all checked in my 9:30pm. They started
the pitocin, because I was still only a 3, but almost fully effaced.
Soon things were on a roll and let me just say pitocin contractions are
horrible!!! I really wanted to try to have this baby without an
epidural, but this time around I had horrible back labor. It was
finally 6am and I was exhausted from working through the contractions.
I looked at my mom and told her I think it's time to get the epidural,
because all I want to do is say the F word. LOL. So, I got my epidural
and I was in heaven!! I was then dilated to a 10 and ready to go. So,
the nurse did 3 practice pushes with me and then told me to give her
one good push. I only made it to the count of 5 and she said stop! Dr.
Cone came in suited up and said give me half a push, so I did and Canon
was out! Whew....was that easy!!! Everything was so smooth and so
perfect. Canon came out weighing in at 7.5 and 19 inches long. For
being 3 weeks early he is doing great!!! No jaundice or any other
issues and he has not lost any weight. He is already eating 3 ounces
and last night I had to wake him to eat. He had slept 6 hours
straight!! Mommy likes!! I am just so grateful it went so smooth. I am
beyond blessed!
