Cayleigh-Jane`s birthstory
Hiya ALL. I gave birth to my baby girl, Cayleigh. I only ended up pushing for 12 minutes. Of course there was a lot leading up to that point though. I went into the hospital on Thursday night at 9 pm after an amazing `last meal`. When I was in I got checked and I was 3 almost 4 cm dilated...and I was scheduled for a foley catheder which only dilated you to 4 cm. Once that was in it was only an hour before it came out and I was 4 cms. They let me sleep until the next morning where at around 7 AM they used Jell on me to help soften the cervics. That made me really tired and I slept till 9:30 ish which was a good thing. However it didn`t really help my cervics any. SO they broke my water, and I can say I never thought I had that much in me. I gushed and leaked every time I moved for a good 2 to 3 hours. Then around 11:30 / 12ish they hooked up the pitocin. Now mind you up to this point, I`ve been contracting about every 5-7 minutes steady but just not `strong` enough. (I thought they were just strong enough haha). After the pitocin I lasted a good hour and a half before begging for an epidural. I was so adamant I wouldn`t get one however the pain brought on by all the modes of induction had worn me down and pitocin made me contract every minute and strong. The man who gave it to me was a GOD haha...and this is when I got the nurse who would deliver me. She was so fantastic. I can`t say enough good things about this woman, she was amazing. But anywho, my OB came in at around 3:50 and said `OH heres the head, guess we should start pushing. It may take a few hours`. 12 minutes later I had my baby girl. My OB was amazed I only pushed for 12 minutes and this being my first. Now I didn`t tear when her head came out but I did a little when her shoulders came out. I found out why I was having decreased fetal movement. Her hands were crossed over her shoulders and then the cord was wrapped all the way around her body, sorta like a straight jacket. It made her very wide. I tore on the upper part not the normal area between the vagina and anus. I have to get surgery to correct the damage however was told I should just wait till I finish having kids. It won`t affect me in any way so why get it done now. HOWEVER, the stitches are very uncomfortable and going potty is very painful. My milk came in on the second day and she is already having regular bowel movements. She is such a amazing gift.
