Edyn-Annelyse`s birthstory
On June 18th, I went to the doctor for my weekly appointment. I had gained 5 pounds in a week but was only moderately swollen. The nurse practitioner sent me down the hall for an ultrasound to measure the baby. Not only did my baby girl weigh 7 pounds and 15 ounces and measure a week ahead but the tech also noticed that I had an unusually high amount of amniotic fluid. The nurse practitioner explained the complications of the excess fluid and said she would notify my doctor (who was out on vacation) and call to tell me whether or not I would be induced soon. The next day my doctor called to say she was scheduling me for a non stress test and another ultrasound for the 25th. I went in and our darling girl did fine on the NST but measured a whopping 8 and a half pounds. My doctor went over the risks of a vaginal birth and suggested a cesarean section for the next morning. I agreed and my husband and I checked in that night so I could have all my antibiotics for my strep B. I only slept a half hour but not because I was nervous, just very uncomfortable. At 7:00 am on 6-26 I went in to meet my little piece of heaven. At 7:31 Edyn Annelyse Qualls was born. She weighed a very shocking 9 pounds and 3 ounces (just like her Daddy) and was 20 inches long. At first glance her hair appears to be red but only time will tell. The first night she got down to 8 pounds and 13 ounces and the next she weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces. She is having trouble latching on for the colostrum and I am praying that will all change when my milk comes in. My husband and I are in a state of amazement and we have fallen in love all over again. We thank God for our blessings and pray that everyone else will be as content as we are at this moment.
