Birth Story

I was 41 weeks pregnant and with no sign of my little man making an appearance that my Midwife came round on the 25th March 2008 to give me a stretch and sweep to see if that would help me go into labour. But that didnt work, so she came round again on the 27th March to give me another stretch and sweep and if this one didnt work then she had booked me in to be induced on the 1st April 2008. To be honest, i didnt want to be induced so i was praying that this stretch and sweep would work!

After my Midwife had gone, i done my usual cleaning and whatever else then i had my daily nap (which was 3 hours long lol) and when i woke up i was having contractions but they was irregular so i just passed them off as Braxton Hicks. But that night i couldnt sleep at all, i was just uncomfortable all night whilst having these contractions. The next day i woke up and i knew i was in the early stages of labour because the contractions were becoming more and more frequent and alot stronger. I tried having a bath but if anything that made everything worse!! I tried everything! Then that night around 9pm i knew i had to go to hospital and when i got there they examined me and said i was 3cm dilated and that they had to keep me in! I was soo excited knowing that my little man was coming into the world!!

During my labour, i kept looking at the clock because at the time it felt like forever and nothing was happening but when i look back it had gone soo quick and i loved every minute of it. The nurses kept asking me if i wanted gas and air or an epidural but i said no to both because i wanted to be in control without no drugs! When i look back i think that the contractions were the worse part of the labour than the pushing!!

After 8 hours my little man Charlie was born at 6.23am, weighing 8lbs 13oz and 21 inches long!!
