Elizabeth-Marie`s birthstory

Well, I had my Dr.`s apt on the 3rd. They wanted to check my amnio fluid b/c it had been low the week before. So, they did a U/S and it was lower so off to LD I went. The hospital is right accross the street from my Dr.'s office so it wasn't a long drive. I called my hubby to tell him what was going on (he wouldnt pick up the phone at first b/c he was mowing the lawn - men!) When he finally realized what I was telling him he began to freak out. He thought I was about to have the baby right then and there! Checked in by noon and by 2pm they started me on Cervadil, since i was basically at ground zero and only a dimple dialated. So after 12 hrs of the cervadil they took it out. I don`t really remember them taking it out & checking me since they gave me Ambien (sp?) so I could sleep through the night. Anyways, so at 3am they hooked me up to the pitocin and thats when it really all began! My dr. came in and checked me a few hrs later and OHMYGOD DID THAT HURT. I was a litte `raw` from the cervadil. When she checked me I had not progressed from a dimple dialated so she shoved her finger through. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then she did a membrane sweep, that hurt soooo bad I was crying. About an hr after that I had my bloody show (yuck) and things started to really get going. I started cramping and the contractions were getting more frequent and stronger. Around 11:00am or so, my water broke on it`s own. Man was that the wierdest feeling I have ever had in my life. I was just sitting there talking to my husband and GUUSSSHHHH! For my amnio fluid being low, there was a lot in there and it just kept coming and coming and coming.... ugh, so they changed my sheets and I got all cleaned up. Then the contractions really began to hurt, and I mean hurt!!! They were not really showing up on the monitor, so they put an internal monitor in me and they were showing up off the chart they were soooo strong and only 1 - 2 min appart. I REALLY wanted to go natural but I couldn`t take the pain, I was in tears sooo bad, so I asked for the epidural and that was heaven. The epi didnt even hurt, it just felt like a little pinch. I think it was worse for my hubby to watch! He started to get dizzy and he almost fainted, he had to sit down. after the epi I had all the lights turned off so I could finally relax, listened to my IPod for a bit and took a nap for about 2 hrs. At that point i was at 5cm.

When I woke up I could start to feel the contractions again and it was hurting. They checked my epi and it was leaking. The pain was worse than ever! So they had to stick me again, but I didn`t even care. Once the second one began working again I fell asleep again for about 2 hrs. The nurse came in and checked me and I was 9cm!!! Woo Hoo! Almost there! By that time my mom and step dad had gotten to the hopital (they flew in from CA and made it literally just in time) So my dr. came in to see what was going with me at that point. I was 10cm. She sais "Wow nobody called to let me know you are about ready to push, lucky I stopped by" UMM OKAY!!! I was stull numb from the epi and couldn`t feel anything. They set me all up and I started pushing. My Dr. asked if I wanted a mirror to see what was goign on and I said NO WAY!!! LOL. My oxygen was low so they stuck a mask on me and told me to take in a deep breath before every push. Since I couldn't feel anything I had no clue if I was making progress but I guess I was b/c I pushed for literally 5 min (3 contractions) and she was out! That was it. I had a 2nd degree tear. She was 6lbs 2.3 oz and 19 inches long and just PERFECT!!! we are so in love with her. Can`t wait to take her home today.

Well it all started on Tuesday morning at 1:30AM - 38 weeks and 3 days along. While I was sleeping I rolled over and felt a little gush of fluid. I ran to the bathroom and a little more came out. It didnt smell or look like urine so I started freaking out thinking OHMYGOD MY WATER BROKE?!! So I called my Dr, explained what happened and she told me to head to the hospital so they could do a swab test to see if it was amnio. I really didnt think that it was my water breaking so I told my husband to stay home (not to wake up our 2 year old) and I'd call him on my way home :-) Drove myself to the hospital, get all hooked up to the monitor, nurse checked me, I started having some cramps, and they did the swab test - swab test came out positve for amnio and I was admited! Called my husband to let him know what was going on (I AM STILL IN TOTAL SHOCK) and told him to come down at around 5am. By this time it's about 3AM, contractions started getting VERY INTENSE AND 2 MINUTES APART! I am still only 1cm dialated (had been for about 3 weeks) . So around 5am my husband comes to the hospital with my DD and i was begging for my Epidural. We get the Epi in by 6AM and it only is work on one side, i can still feel everything on my left. Contractions are crazy painful and intense, 2 min apart and a lot of them right on top of eachother with no relief. I felt like I was dying, I had sooooooooooooo much pressure I kept telling them I felt like I needed to push, Dr checks me i'm at 6CM. So, my husband leaves to take our DD to a friends house. By now it's about 7AM, They had to stick me again in the back (They gave me a spinal this time instead of just the Epi). 30 minutes later Dr checks me again b/c I felt sooo much pressure and i'm at 8CM (hubby is still not back yet). By now the spinal finally worked and I cant feel anything - pure bliss!! All of the sudden I felt this sensation of something slidding waaaaaay down and even more pressure. I told the nurse and she checked me and the baby's head is right there trying to get out!!!!!!! they ran to get my dr - hubby still not back yet, I call him and he's 15 minutes away. This baby was coming and there was no stopping it, 10 minutes later (3 contractions, 7 pushes) Alice Jeanne came into this world scraming her head off! My dr yelled " IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!!!!!" (this pregnancy we wanted to have the gender be a surprise). She was perfect in every way. hubby still wasnt there, he ran in the door about 2 minutes after she was born. She was still screaming her head off. I had a 2nd degree tear but other than that all was fine. She started nursing right away :-) She is beautiful and loved sooo much. Her Big Sister Elizabeth just loves her and is sooo excited to have here home. My labor went very quick this time, from the start of actual contractions to the time of birth was really only 5 hrs (from 1cm to 10cm) !!!!
