Labour started at about 11pm- 12am.. was up with contractions all night long.. Around 8am went to hospital with contractions 2-3 mins apart. Was admited, an hour later they broke my water. Another hour later i started to push.. another hour passed by in labour she came out . No drugs just the aid of the vaccum and forceps eventually to get her out. I was soo exhausted no energy to push.. i learned from this labour to sleep through contractions as much as possible cause labour is exhausting! Spent 4 days in the hospital cause the nurses felt sorry for me, deadbeat boyfriend and i was only 17.

Milah-Magnolia`s birthstory

Labour started at about 6 am. I had been rolling around all night in and out of sleep from contractions. At 6 i started to time them since they were painful enough i couldn`t sleep through them. They were 5 mins- 7 mins and only 30 sec, by 6:30 am they were 30 -40 sec every 2-3 mins. I had a couple in a 2 hour span that i was monitering that were 5 mins long but they were stronger ( hence the *).. Here`s the times i marked down this morning. They had gotten painful enough by the end of watching them i had to get my husband to write them cause i couldn`t keep the time in my head or start and end. I would call these mild contractions, easy to breath through.

At this time we had called the midwife already i thought it was false labour ( when i told my mom i was having contractions prior to going to shower, she thought so too) but thought i`d give them a heads up and let them decide if they should come. It`s kinda harder or nerve racking when you have to wake people and your not sure. I mean they are comming to your house, it`s not like going to the hospital where people are already working. So the midwife was called just after 8 am and arrived at about 10. There was no rush this was evident. They told me to call again if anything changed. They were going to get up dressed ect and go for breakfast before comming over.

Once my midwife and the student arrived they checked me and i was 90%- 100% effaced and 4 cm. So they told me to blow up the pool and get ready. Meanwhile i`m getting my daughter ready for dance class at 11:30 ( till 12:30). So i called my sister and asked her to take my daughter ( since my niece takes lessons with her).

So after about 1 hour of hectic prep between the midwives and husband/mom/kayla ( midwifes tools and such and tarps for the pool , blowing it up and everything ( we prepared the bed prior to the midwives coming , cause it was getting painful enough i would have been annoyed not having somewhere to lie down comfortably) My mom, Danny and the midwives took turns rubbing my lower back through the contractions that had gone from making funny faces to deep breathing and maybe some groans at this point. I wasn`t keeping track of how fast they were coming anymore.. I mean WHO REALLY WANTS TO KNOW WHEN TO EXPECT PAIN!

I was able to relax between them and try to sleep. I had ` Leonard Cohen live in London` playing for a good while. I think my eyes were closed from about 12:30 until she was born as i was in half a daze trying to rest and concentrate through the contractions. I was in and out of the pool about 3 times once we got it going. It was absolutely wonderful relief. I also manged to go poo twice before labour ( no poo in the pool thank you!) The first time was pretty early on the second time i had small rectal pressure already so it took some convincing to make myself go.

The midwives took the babies heart beat every 15 mins. My original midwife student had to leave at about 12:30cause it was her dads birthday and she had it booked off. She was really sad to miss the waterbirth. At 1:30pm my second midwife arrived with her student ( since the other one had to leave). My mom, sister and husband Danny helped me through the contractions in the pool by rubbing my lower back ( lots of pressure right above my butt). I moved around in lots of positions in the pool and out. I had my eyes closed for the whole ending i don`t know who was helping me at the end or what, just focused, eyes closed and lots of moaning. The midwife checked me 2 more times after checking me upon her arrival the second time i was 6-7 cm and 100% effaced at about 1:15pm ish . I even managed to eat toast at 1:50pm. I was feeling a little nausea from the pains to be honest. . At 3:11pm i was out of the pool for the 3rd and final time and checked, i was 9 cm and starting to feel pressure to push a little but i could still resist. There was no need to break my water as it was really low and would break on it`s own. I got out of the water about 3 times throughout cause i was hot sometimes and also the relief i was getting, it was just soo nice that enduring a couple really bad ones on the bed and going back in helped me cope a little too. PLus is was easier to rub my back out of the pool through the contractions, which really provided alot of relief

So after the last checking it was pretty much you want this baby in the pool you better get in now. 3:20pm i got back in.. Was feeling more pressure to push but i was scared for my water to break cause i knew then it would be more and more painful. Eventually my body took over and i could hold it back from pushing even if i wanted to.I was leaned over the wall of the pool on my knees resting my head on the edge of it. It felt like this giant air gun had gone off in my vajayjay.. It was the weirdest thing. I thought it would just feel like i peed not such a forcing `pop` feeling from withing. It really did feel like a ballon popping this time ( since no one broke it for me this time). I remember i yelled out when i could ` MY WATER BROKE` (3:36pm).Then everyone started stiring around . I remember someone saying `looks good, its clear no merconium`.. i think this is when everyone came down to watch. I have no idea my eyes were closed the whole time.

I started to scream at this point. Kayla and Danny each took one hand. I Tried to stop myself from pushing ( cause it was obviously going to cause me a great deal of pain) but it was soo intense my body took over, i couldn`t stop mysel from pushing if i tried. Seriously thought death was upon me. I had about 3 or 4 contractions that made me yell loud. The first 2 then the 3rd i felt something come out between my legs and had to spread my knees out more. It wasn`t even a thought I just did it cause there was something weird there.

Then i took my hand away from my supports and was touching the head, it was instinct cause i hardly remember doing this or thinking about it. 30 sec later another super strong contraction that made me push i had no choice and she came flying out at 3:43pm. I took her myself no help and sat over in a corner of the pool serrounded by pink water. I was in disbelief i had done it.. you really start to doubt yourself at the end. I was really just surprised i had gotten through it.

Milah was covered in vernix and her head was purple at the top, full head of hair. The umbilical cord was long they said. My hands are soo soft from the vernix and they still are. The placenta was delivered in the next strong contraction which was nothing compared to her comming out, at 3:47. They left her attached until the cord stop pulsing and let my husband cut the corda little later. They cut her cord long and let him cut it shorter rather. I was proud of him for doing that , I wasn`t sure he would.

The midwives let me sit in the pool as long as i wanted. I fed her a little, she latched right away and didn`t let go for like 3 hours!.. took a break and then again.. I mean i know i don`t have my milk yet but 7 hours the first day of sucking gets a little tender.

I was quite energetic and in disbelief i did it after.. ate a grilled cheese kayla made me ( while i fed). I had some small tearing at the top and bottom, the bottom needed 2 stitches. ( well i had my choice, so i followed what they felt would make me heal fastest and be most comfortable, it was minimal).

The pool was a great experience. I mean for a natural labour it progressed at a resonable length and was as smooth as births get. Milah was given the eye stuff and the vitamin k shot just before the midwives left and weighed her. They asked me to guess her weight for fun, I guessed bang on 7lbs 8 oz.

The placenta is in the freezer so when i feel well enough to go buy the tree and plant everything . We will be planting a Magnolia in the yard on top of the placenta.

BIrth Story..



I got up at about 2:30 am with contractions. My mom and the midwife came over about 1 hour later.My mom jinxed the labour by calling me sunday night to tell me she was sleeping with the phone by the bed from now on incase i went into labour. I was about 5 cm at 3:30 am.

Labour slowed right down after. I kinda willed it away since my pool hadn`t been delivered yet. At 7 am not much progress was still joking around and walking. Called the pool people, my mom went to pick it up eventually.8 am Mom got back with the pool , we set up everything was still slow so the midwife left and told us to call her when things changed. Kayla my Doula Sarah and my mom sat around watching Rocky and talking.

11 am started getting more pressure, we called she came. Things were still pretty slow but we thought the Rocky theme song was a good one to give birth to later lol.... 2pm they wouldn`t let me in the tub told me i had to move around..lol get labour going. I was about 8cm and getting really really tired, starting to feel out of it and decided to wait one more hour and let them break the waters need be..

3:00 bigger contractions got back in Pool. About 10 contractions later Jaden came out with the waters in one swift push. My 11 year old daughter kayla cut the Cord.
I didn`t catch baby this time as he came out with water all at once in one big contration. I was concentrating on the pain and e rocketed out behind me so i just called out to make sure someone had him before turning over from squating over the side of the pool to sitting down in the pool. Placenta delivered 3-4 mins later.

Got a couple stitches put in , cause we know i wont be just lying in bed resting.



Baby Details

Jaden Tibo Labine- Zhang was born at 3:46pm at 7lbs even in the pool in the livingroom ( i was kinda hoping i could blame more of the weight gain on the baby but atleast he came out pretty easy ). We are all doing well and resting up.



He is very white not dark like milah. NO mongolian spot again or stork bite.
