3 days past my due date I had an ultrasound which revealed I had no amniotic fluid left. I was admitted to the hospital that day. 2 days later I was induced with Oxytocin, which after 9 hours of labor all of a sudden stopped working. The next morning they used cervadil & I went back into labour but only dilated to 3.5 cm. That evening they started Oxytocin again to progress the labor. Hours later I still hadn't dilated any further & the contractions were extrememly strong, with very little time between them because I was at the highest dose of Oxytocin, so I got an epidural. After 39 hours of labor the baby was having decelerations & showing signs of distress, & I still had not dilated any more than 3.5 cm, so I had a c-section. We got a scare because Cohen had passed meconium, but because I had no amniotic fluid left the meconium was dehydrated - it didn't go into his lung, fortunately, but it got stuck in his airway & was very difficult for the pediatrician to suction out. Cohen didn't breathe for 8 terrifying minutes - his apgars were 2 until 10 minutes... He spent 4 days in NICU before I got to have him with me, & we both spent another 2 days in the hospital together. Cohen is now a healthy & extremely happy 1 year old, and will be a big brother in August!!!
