It all started July 17th early morning, I started to have contractions. They weren't too painful but they were there. I waited till late afternoon to go to our local hospital to get check before we headed onto the highway to get to the hospital we would be delivering at. I was only 2cm, so lady said to wait it out, and we did. Later that evening around 9pm we went back to the local hospital and got checked again, I was then 3 cm and had the contractions still, there were about 10-15 min apart still. The baby's heart beat was really high, it was a very hot day! The nurse said to take out time but to head to our hospital, so that is what we did.We grabed all our stuff and went to the hospital that is a hour and a half away. My contrations started becoming 5 min apart in the vehicle, all I have to say is ouch! We got to the hospital got check there and the nurse said I should have stayed home, and that I was NOT in active labor just contracting, she checked and I was still 3 cm...We decided to stay and get a hotel room, so I got a shot of demoral and gravol in the hip before we left. I had the best sleep of my life even getting up every hour to pee..In the morning after checking out at 11:30am we went back to the hospital before we left the city, my contractions had stopped, but we wanted to make sure. The nurse said yes go home, then i started some mild contractions again. I went to stand up to get dressed and I had thought maybe my water broke because something trickled down my leg, so the nurse then didnt want to send me away. So we had to walk around for a few hours and then get checked again, turned out I peed myself, hehehe.. She checked me and no change, but we were going to wait for the Dr. to come and see what he thought. In the mean time I had to listen to a lady next to me dying of contrations that had started in the morning and she was possibly ready to have her baby. She scared the heck out of me and made me angry that her labor was going along so fast. The Dr. came in and I told him it just wasnt fair he told me not to be jealous since things werent going good for her and she was going to have an emergency c-section because of an iregular heart beat. He check me and I was then 4 cm, he didnt want to send me home since I was close to active labor. Yahoo... So he said he could break my waters, but then informed me of the risks. I asked my husband what to do and he said just get it over with.. So the Dr. broke my waters right then, that was at 3:30pm on July 18th. I went into very active labor right away. The nurse put me in the shower and said I looked tense, I said yes did you hear that one lady, of course I am !!!! I wanted to have medication, I was not against anything. The nurse checked me at around 5pm to see how I was progressing, since that was the deadline for if I was not doing it on my own I would get the pitocin. I was around 7cm, she was very happy and then gave me my options on pain medications. I did not want that demoral again so she ordered me an epidural, but they were stuck in the O.R. for atleast the next hour so she got me some morphine for the time being so after 5mg of morphine she checked me after she ordered more morphine since the epidural still hadnt showed. I was then 9 and a half cm, she then could not give me the morphine, she kept getting me to turn in the bed to get me to finish dilating. Breathing through the contrations im not going to lie I was pushing a bit and the nurse called me on it, she didnt say much about it, I was trying. Then she said you have to push and buckled on a bar to my bed. She wanted me to squat at the bar on the bed, I had no energy to pick myself up, that was my snapping point I said no I cant so I just put my legs up onto the bar and pushed. Then it was nurse change time :(. Both nurses were impressed with my pushing skills. I was so hot while pushing and all I finally wanted my husband to do was put cold water on my face and neck. I pushed for 35 min and 4 hours of crazy labor, Jessen Aubrey was born..She weighed 8 pounds and 10 and a half ounces. All I could say is she is big!! hehehe..She is perfect in everyway. There are many things that happened during my 4 hour labor that I dont even remember, its amazing how we will block some things out. My husband was at his bordest point, I did not allow him to touch my the whole time the only things he got to do was hold the shower head, and put cold water on my face and neck when I was on the bed. Labor is definantly its own experience on its own, once the baby is out there is so much pain relief! I did have to have 1 stitch put in.
