I had gone to L & D Sunday night because I thought my water broke and I didn't want to take any chances w/ infection since I had been 3 cm dilated for over 2 months. It was a false alarm and I was sent home. Monday evening I went to Target to get some last minute things and I just wanted to get out of the house since I had been on bedrest, which seemed like forever (3 months to be exact). Also, I had my stitch removed at 35 wks and was given the go ahead to walk around be "normal" again. While in Target my lower back was bothering me but I didn't think much of it since I was feeling a little sore because the doctor who checked me made me bleed. She called it contact bleeding, whatever that means, it looked and felt like a whole lot of blood to me. I went to bed around 1:30 AM since I wasn't sleeping much from being on bedrest. I woke up around 2:30 AM w/ light period cramps, but thought nothing of it because I had experienced light cramping throughout my whole pregnancy. I noticed that the cramps would come and go so I decided to time them and they were 5 mins apart. I waited it out and they remained that way for next 2-3 hours. So I called my sister-in-law and she suggested I go back to L & D, so off everyone was. Hubby and I arrived at the hospital around 5:30 AM and by the time they checked me I was already 6cm and completely effaced. My water broke shortly after the doctor checked me and my contractions got waaaay more intense. I took the doctor up on her offer for an epidural. I was taken to the delivery room around 7am where I waited what seemed to be like an eternity for the anesthesiologist to get there. Long story short I got the epidural and literally 2 minutes later I felt pressure down there, which meant it was time to push. My nurse called the doctor and I began to push. A few pushes later and I met my little miracle. He was born at 9:58 am and weighed in at 5lbs 5 oz and measured 19inches. I only got to see him for a short time because they noticed he had some fluid in his lungs He spent the next week in the NICU.
