On Monday, August 11, I was scheduled for an induction at 5 pm. I checked in at that time and around 6, I started having contractions on my own. They weren’t strong or anything but I knew I was having them. Then, around 7:30, they inserted my cervidil. It worked well. I dilated to 3 before I couldn’t take anymore. I got 2 shots of Stadol. I was so delirious. But it helped. I managed the pain through breathing and sheer will and determination. Then, I got to 5 cm.. I couldn’t take anymore. I got my epidural and just waited for me to finish dilating. I got to 8 cm and my contractions stopped beinf regular.. so I had to start Pit.. 2 cm to go and I had to get it anyway. So finally I got to 10 within like 30 minutes. When it was time to push, I was so rested. I was in active labor from 6 pm the 11th until 11:29 am on the 12th when I gave birth to Aja KiLoni Aryannah Landers after pushing for 25 minutes. I did end up with 5 stiches.. but hey.. I took it like a G! I was asked by a lot of people how it was. My theory? It was the hardest easiest thing I have ever done. Getting to 5 cm with no real pain meds took a lot out of me. But when I got to 5, I was so proud of myself. I made it happen and with the help of my parents, and a wonderful husband and very good nurses and a doctor that I will forever be in debt to, I made it happen captain. Being induced scared the crap out of me because of other peoples horror stories. My experience is just that as long as you have a good support systems, understanding medical professionals on your side, and the determination to get that baby out, your induction will go well… I look at my baby girl and I swear that all the pain was worth it. I was afraid I was hurting my mother and husband when I would squeeze their hands, so I just asked for my Superman, My daddy. I squeezed his hand so hard.. and he didn’t even flinch. I was allowed to have one person in my room when I got my epidural.. I chose my father. I went off of his strength, not my own. When I started to push, I had my dad stand behind my head so he wouldn’t see my “WhoHa”. He was telling me I could do it and that I was doing a good job. I swear he is all I need in life. He is my everything.. Always and Forever. To all women expecting that are nervous and scared and thinking about the special day wayyy too much.. It is not as bad as it seems. Just because someone you know had a terrible labor, don’t let that get in your head and discourage you from doing well. Anything in possible… Just believe in you and think about that lil booger you will be getting..
