George-Douglas`s birthstory
pm.
Was 3 cm dilated on fri when went for my second sweep. Started having irregular contraction Sat night, these continued coming off and on. On Mon I rang the hospital but they just said wait till contractions are 3-4 mins apart. Woke up wed morn in terrible pain but this subsided after an hour, was gettin really tired and sick of being in pain. At ten oclock my waters broke so finally the hospital let me come in, when I got to triage they found meconium in my waters so I was admitted and my birth plan went out of the window.
I finally was examined at 12.30 and was found to be 9cm, no wonder i had been in so much pain. So they put me on gas and air and we thought we would have a baby soon.
There was confusion about which way the baby was lying and my water hadnt been broken properly by the first doctor so they were broken again at 6pm and then I wanted an epidural, I had pethedine, which did nothing so got my epidural about 9pm.
Started pushing about 9.30 but nothing happened so after an hour they used foreceps on me for what seemed like an eternity, at about 11 they decided to go for an emergency c-section, and at 23.13 George was born, weighing a big 9lb 6oz.
He is an angel and I love him so much. I am bottle feeding him as was in so much pain from my c-section and an existing shoulder injury that I was really struggling to hold his bulk, I needed my shoulder to get myself out of bed and so made the really difficult decision. It has been for the best though and I am just starting to stop beating myself up about it, George is really happy and his Daddy has been able to help me and I am able to recover from the op.
Being a mother is the strangest and most wonderful experience I have ever known, I wish I was more able to do things like go for a walk with him but I have to rest and recover from this op.
