Well in case you didn't know we had horrible tornados here on Friday and I was rushed to the hospital in the middle of them with contractions 5 mins apart and getting stronger. The contractions went down once I was in the hospital hooked up to the monitors. Some say the barometric pressure of the torandos started my labor. I left the hospital dilated 3cm and 80% effaced. Contractions never stopped, but were irregular and lasted till Sunday (Easter) night. I started timing them Sunday night at 11:30pm. They were 7 mins apart getting really stronger then at 5 mins apart I felt like I had NO control over my body I was in SO much pain. I had to rest in between them! Hubby helped me breathe through them thankfully. I made it until 2 in the a.m. and we headed to the hospital. I was bleeding bright red blood and a lot of it by this point. *A little hint: Sex induces labor!!! They hooked me up to a machine at 2:30 contractions 5 mins apart STRONG and checked me I was at 6cm 100% effaced. They said "You are in labor, you will not be going home!" YAY~ Well from 2:30am till 4am were extremely rough....I had to wait for the anesteologist (sp?) to get there for my epidural. So bythis point I had 4 1/2 hours of active labor with NO pain relief! The epidural scared the living crap out of me it was by far the worst part. He brushed a nerve in my back and I jumped and he said "DO NOT JUMP" I was like dude I couldn't help it!!! Well within about 10 mins I felt amazing. Completely numb from waist down I was smiling and talking again! I had to wait for the Doctor to come in (he didn't come in till 7:30am). So we just waited around which made my labor easier on me. A lot of times they will try to hurry your labor up by giving you petocin but my body was doing it on its own b/c we had time. Well at 10:00am they came in and checked me and my Doctor broke my water. Within a few mins I was at 9cm WOOOHOO! By 10:10 they said it was time to push. The room was so calm, they would walk away and say push whenever you feel the need. My hubby and I worked on pushes alone for about 5-10 mins. The doctor came in and said OK push hard while everyone counted to 10, we did that three times. Took a break, continued. I pushed for 20 mins and little Tyler Remington was born at 10:33am! I was watching "The Price Is Right" through the whole labor. It was extremely easy. I felt some pressure through the epidural but it was okay b/c it wasn't painful it just helped me push. I liked pushing!!! It made me feel like I was doing sooo much on my own. Anyways my boy is precious and healthy and that is all I prayed for! I ripped in a few places but the doctor said it wasn't much. Stiching me up part hurt, I could feel that through the epidural. They stuck an ice pack on me with two HUGE pads and some really annoying underwear and sent me to postpartum. It amazes me how natural pushing comes to a woman. If you don't already know, you will soon! Good luck to everyone who is a soon to be Mom , treasure that day it will be absolutely amazing!
