Rylan-Cole-McCormick`s birthstory
I woke up about 4:30 am that Saturday morning to go to the restroom (as always), but when I went to lay back down I started feeling contractions felt different than my Braxton Hicks normally did. I didn`t pay any attention to it because I figured it was still false labor since they weren`t very strong and I was only getting them about every 20-30 minutes. My husband got up to make a run to Toysrus at 6:30 am for an item for my first son Greyson and since I hadn`t been able to go back to sleep I got up and started doing my normal routine before Greyson woke up. At about 7:30 he woke up and at this point I was still having the contractions and they seemed to be coming closer together, so I started noting the times they occured in my phone. They were stronger, but still not regular. Some were 10 minutes apart, but then I would still have some that were 20 minutes apart. About 10 am I was doing the breakfast dishes when I felt something slimy come out of me. I went to the restroom and realized I had lost some of my plug. At this point I decided to jump in the shower just in case my water broke later. By the time I got out the shower the contractions had gotten stronger, but were still irregular like before. I called my mom and told her what was going on. She told me that I was definitely in labor, but since the contractions were so irregular neither of us believed that I was progressing very quickly. At this point I told my husband that we had better go ahead and run to the store to get a few things we were out of before I got worse. He went ahead and loaded all of our hospital stuff in the car just in case. We left the house about 11 am and ran to CVS and Target. On the way my husband asked me when he wanted me to call the doctor and I said I was waiting till the contractions were at least regularly 5 minutes a part. I decided to stay in the car while he ran in CVS and then Target just in case my water broke! By the time he came out of Target at 12, I felt what I thought was more of my plug come out and I realized my contractions had gotten to be anywhere from 3-7 minutes apart and I was gripping the arm rest in the car to try and breathe through them, so I told him to go ahead and call the on call doctor. The on call doctor told me to go ahead and come in to the hospital so I could get checked to see if I was dilating at all. We dropped Greyson off with a friend and headed straight to the hospital. I got to the hospital at 1:00 pm and the nurse checked me and I was 5 cm, so obviously I was progressing enough to be able to. They gave me an epidural and checked me again at 2:00 pm and I was already 7 cm. The hospital was unable to get in touch with my doctor and since I was progressing so quickly the nurse had told the on call doctor to come in. She came in the room to introduce herself at 2:20 pm and to check again on my progress. I was expecting her to still say 7 cm, but she looks at me and says `honey you are ready to push!` At 2:37 pm Rylan Cole McCormick was born (within an hour and a half of us getting to the hospital)! The doctor had to do an episiotomy and use a small vacume to get him out cause, just like his big brother, he had the cord wrapped around his neck, so his heartbeat dropped every time I pushed. Luckily Rylan was born 100% healthy - 7 pounds 12 ounces, 20.5 inches long.

Greyson-Scott-McCormick`s birthstory
Since my little man just didn`t want to make his appearance on his own, I was induced at 7:45 am on Monday 2/23. They started the pitocin gradually and by noon I hadn't made any progress, so the doctor had to break my water (not a fun experience). After that my contractions started to get a lot stronger, they gave me some pain medicine in my IV that totally put me to sleep for a couple hours till the contractions got even stronger. Around 3 pm I couldn't take it anymore and so I got the epidural (God's gift to women in labor!!!). The doctor checked me at around 4pm and I was still only dialated 3 cm (keep in mind I was already dialated 2 cm when I got there that morning!), so I'm sitting there thinking I'm going to be there all week trying to finish dialating at that pace! The nurse kicked up the pitocin full force at that point and in two hours time I went from 3 to 8 cm and he had moved down to 0 station! Finally I felt like I was getting somewhere. The nurse came back about 30-45 minutes later and said I was 10 cm and he was all the way down ready to go! I started pushing around 7:20 pm, but everytime I pushed his heart rate dropped so they had to use the vacume along with my pushing to help get the little guy out ok. At 7:43 pm Greyson Scott entered the world! I couldn't see much since I was laying back when he came out, but when the doctor grabbed the clamp for the umbilical cord, my little guy reached up (still screaming and crying) with his tiny fingers and grabbed onto it! It was too cute! After an hour and a half of being stitched up (I tore really bad outside and inside) I was finally able to hold my little guy. He weighed in at 8 pounds 4 ounces, 21 inches long, and got 9s on both of his Apgar tests! After everything he had just been through, his eyes were wide opened looking at mommy and he was sucking non stop on his little hand! Even though I am REALLY sore from the whole experience, I would do it all over again in a heartbeat for him! He's absolutely prescious and I still find myself staring at him in disbelief that he is really mine : )
