Izabella-Franchesca-Walters-(Izzie)`s birthstory
I had a membrane sweep from my midwife at 1pm on Thursday the 21st August, I came home and had a bloody show at about 7pm. At 9pm I started having regular contractions coming every 5 minutes.
I stayed up and continued to time my contractions, relaxing in my front room watching the Bejing Olympics and re runs of sex and the city!
At 1.00am I decided to have a bath and told Neil to ring his parents to come over and watch Alexandra because I wanted to go into hospital.
We left and arrived at hospital at 2am, where I was checked and told I was fully effaced and 6 cms dilated. My waters broke during the examination, I then started to used entonox (gas and air) whilst sitting on a birthing ball. The contractions became more intense and much more regular so I had a shot of pethidine just to help me cope with the peak of the contraction, but found I was dealing with each contraction well as they came, breathing through them and using my gas and air!
At 3.30 I asked to get back on the bed and told the midwife that I was feeling the urge to push, she told me to go with my body and do what I felt. So at 3.45 I started to push and at 4am on the dot my daughter was born weighing 9lbs 2oz. I had 2nd degree tears that required stitches internally and externally, I had some gas and air whilst the midwife stitched me up. God I love Gas and Air!!!
Because I didnt have an epidural I was allowed home 6 hours after the birth, and so didnt stay on the post natal ward. I had some tea and toast and a rest and a bath and left for home at 10am.
As far as labour goes - this was a fantastic experience. My daughter is amazing and I have fallen in love all over again!
Been home now a couple of days and my milk supply has just kicked in and we are settling into a niced routine already!
