Harvey-David-Grant`s birthstory
Was taken in to be induced on friday morning 04/04/08 and was given the gel at 9am. I had a walk around the hosp and did feel some tightenings but nothing strong so when they came to examine me 6 hours later at 3pm I didn`t think it had worked but the midwife advised me I was 3cm dialated. The midwife said she would contact the delivery suite but to be aware it could be up to 48hrs for a bed. I was really fed up by this point and anxious to have my baby. 10 mins laters she came back and said they had a bed for me and I could go round as soon as they had cleaned it. I was taken into the room where they examined me again and said they would try and pop my waters, she did try but was unsure if they had gone because nothing came out straight away. I was advised to stand up and have a walk about and oh my god did the waters go (HA!!!). Following this I was put back on the bed and by this time it was 5.45pm and I was put on the drip. Almost instantly the pains got worse but managed to do without any pain releif till about 7.15pm when I had pethadine and gas & air which just took the edge away but by no means stopped the pain. After this eveything went really quick before I knew it I was in agony and feeling the urge to push, the doc and the midwife came in and encouraged me to push as hard as I could, after a few really hard pushes out came my beautiful little boy!!! They passed him straight to me and and he started crying which reasured me he was ok. Words cannot descibe that feeling when you see your child for the first time!!! Once cleaned up I was taken to the ward where I stared at my baby all night as I could not beleive he was mine!!!!
