Kamryn Danielle McElroy Sex: girl Born: 30 April, 2008 Age: 0 years & 85 days Birthday in: 280 days Starsign: Taurus Development: See the 2 months page. Biggest achievement so far: My sweet baby girl has been sleeping though the night since 6 weeks old! WOW! |
So we go to the hospital around 6pm for our induction and after I check in, I`m given the Cervidil to thin out my cervix. I was advised to leave it inserted the entire night so that it will be completely thinned out by the next morning. So the plan was that the nurse would come in around 7am to check my cervix, give me the Pitocin to put me into active labor and then have the doctor come in to break my water. No turning back then right?
Well, let me tell ya how things really went down. I`ve had a serious case of nasal congestion the last couple of days so the next morning it was stuffy in my room. I`ve never been able to sleep hot anyways - the air conditioner is my best freind ladies. Ok, let me get back on track, at approx 6:30 am on the morning of my induction, I was really hot in the room so I got out of bed to get some kleenex and mid-walk, my water breaks. Yes, on its own, my water breaks. Not sure if the cervidil had anything to do with that or if it would have done it anyways, but I feel this gush of water leaking down my leg. I really didn`t know if I`d pottied on myself or not so I immediately called the nurse. (After all these years of being potty-trained, I was still unsure). She came in, cheked me and she said no the test that she ran shows that it was urine. I was soooo disappointed. Well, evidently this b$%ch didn`t know what she was talking about or ran the test wrong or something because after that point, my contractions started and it was on baby. So,they really weren`t that bad at first and I am being completely honest, then they started getting stronger and stronger. So I go from 2cm dilated to 4 in about 10 minutes. The doctor comes in to check me since the nurse wasn`t sure if my water had broken or not and she confirms that my water has definitely broken. She says that its no reason to give me the Pitocin because I`m already in active labor. Wait??? Did somebody say active labor???? WTF???? I didn`t even have time to think about it yall???? So they bring in the anesthesiologist and give me my epidural for the pain. I will say that after I got it, I didn`t feel a thing from the waist down. It was sooo lovely. Soon after, the nurse decides to check me again and I`ve progressed from 4cm to 8cm within a 30 minute timeframe. So she says, she`s still a little high so lets start pushing to bring her down and then I`ll call in the doctor. I remember going blank or something but I knew that I had to give it all I had. She had me push in increments of 4 so after doing it about 5-6 times, she was definitely in place. Only bad part is, she was head down but her body and her face was facing upward toward my pelvic bone. The nurses really thought it would take me longer since most women are in labor longer since that`s a really ackward and painful position in which to deliver. Well, I`m just gonna put it like this, the nurse confirms that I was 10cm dilated at 9:21 and Kamryn was born at 9:51am. I can honestly say that my total labor was less than 3 hours long. AMAZING! I did have to have an episiotomy but she only gave it to me because she thought I was going to tear and to help her come out a little quicker. The stiches are no fun but I`ll be back in working condition in no time.
She is soooo beautiful! I was speechless that her father and I could create such a gorgeous baby girl. She was born at 6lbs 1oz and 19 1/4 inches long. She doesn`t look small at all because she`s short. The important thing is that she`s healthy! She really took my breath away ladies! We are sooo blessed!
