Aryana`s birthstory

I was diagnosed as having preeclamsia, on my last ob visit, Nov. 21, so was told to go straight to the e.r. labor and delivery. I was released after a few hours of high b.p. readings and spilling protein in my urine. My ob dr. advised me to do a 24 hour urine. After that, on Nov. 23 I took a non-stress test, baby was doing well. I was released only to get a call to turn right around and get back to the hospital...they were going to induce my labor. It started out fine, but only got worse and worse. I did have a doula, which helped to get my wishes across to the dr. and nurses. I labored with pitocin and magnesium sulfate for 15 hours, no pushing. After 8 hours I took an epidural, as the contractions were nasty. Then I felt contractions but little pain. Sadly, moving my legs was difficult, almost scary. Because of the preeclampsia at around 3am, my dr, said, I needed an emergency c-section as my life could be in danger-as well as the baby. The problem was I stopped dialating at 6 cm. So obviously, we decided to wait just a couple more hours. By 5am I was still at 6 cm, and only 80% effaced. It was urgent that they deliver....so at 6:07am I had a little baby girl. She is wonderful. She became jaundice, and needed to be put on the u.v. light, but other than that she did great. I unfortunately developed serious complications from the preeclampsia and the magnesium sulfate which I was given for `anti-seizure` reasons when one has preeclampsia. The mag sulfate caused pulmonary edema, which caused heart failure on me. I was put on the cardiac ward and had 5 different tests to rule out coronary artery disease. I am on the mend now, but due to my chronic high b.p. i need to be on meds.
