Tuesday Nov. 30 I started having some contractions but they werent really painful or close together so I just brushed them off and went on with my daily routine. That night they got super painful and hubby kept saying we should go to OB/Triage to get them checked out just to be on the safe side. So after a few hours of him pushing it I decided why not. We left our house about 8-8:30 and got to the hospital and within about 3 hours I was put in a room, checked, hooked up to all of the moniters and dopplers and was told to wait and see if my contractions got closer together. They didnt but about 30min to an hour I went from being 0 dialated to 4cm dialated (I was checked by a different DR)!!!! So they admitted me and moved to to Labor and Delivery. WoW!! We were told before they re-checked me that we were going to be sent home because of the contractions not getting stronger. That last hour in Triage went so fast and I am glad! We were suprised when she said I was 4cm within that hour!!!
So we get to the delivery room and get comfortable and hubby decides to go home and get a few things (it was about 2:30) and he comes back and falls asleep. The DR checks me again around 4:15 and decides to break my water. I was 6cm by then. This DR is soo rough and I am in dreading her touching me because she has checked me in OB/Triage and I was in tears then. As soon as she breaks my water and 1 contraction later I decide to get the epidural. I wanted to get it earlier than with Jillian-I got it almost to late. Plus, the nurse I had said if I was going to get it I might as well get it and not suffer through the pain early! So true!! :) I had to get a nurse to wake hubby up because he wouldnt wake up!! Yikes!! The anesthesiologist got in my room about 15 min and he was great!! Hubby was super helpful after he woke up and helped me relax and get through the contractions. After the epidural things went very fast!!!! I started pushing at about 8:30am and I pushed for 2 hours and Kendall Ivy was born at 10:31am on Dec. 1!!!!!! I was really suprised that it went so well. Hubby was supportive and helpful and he is already wrapped around her finger! :) Since I had a c-section with Jillian, hubby and I were thrilled to have a successful VBAC but after I delived the plcenta they told me I had some tearing. :( 2nd degree perineal and bilateral labial lacerations and they repaired them and it took forever!!!! But they were residents and the DR was supervising them. (Everyone has to learn at one point and time!) After they cleaned Kendall up and checked her out they gave her back to me and she started breastfeeding right after!! I was so proud because I had so many problems with labor and BFing Jillian that this was an amazing feeling!! There just arent words to describe that feeling! Kendall had a bit of jaundice but less than a week after she was born it is gone and she is doing wonderful!!!! Her weight at a week old is 6lbs 7oz and is still BFing great! I dont know what I would have done if hubby wasnt there. He was amazing helping me and encouraging me through this!
While in the recovery room a DR (resident) came to check on me and she told me that the other DRs were talking about me and how they werent sure if I was going to be able to do the VBAC. I was so proud that I did and proved them wrong!! :) Im glad she told me that too. Kendall and I are both doing great!!
