Logan`s birthstory
Sunday September 14th i started having contractions about 10 min apart at 4pm. They were not painful but uncomfortable enough to make me realize i should start writing down how often they occured. the contractions were consistant and about 9pm they were 4-6 min apart. At that time i called labor and delivery and had the doctor paged. The on-call doctor said to take a bath and see if i felt any better and to come in if it didnt help. After a bath, i felt the contractions coming and increasing painful. My husband brought me to the hospital about 10:30pm and i was dialated to a 3 and completely thinned out, i was admitted and imediately asked for pain relief. they gave me an IV and gave me Staydal (spelling ?), i also took a warm bath in the hot tub in my room. Have i mentioned that my husband was there holding my hand the whole time? He was by my side and pouring warm water on my contracting belly and taking good care of me. The pain relief given to me only made me feel loopy and did nothing for the pain. I felt like me eyes were rolling back into my head...i would not recommend it. Around 2am the pain was beyond uncomfortable and i couldnt take it anymore. The doctor checked me and i was dilated to a 5 and i begged for an epidural. I was given and epidural between 2-2:30am. Getting the epidural was actually pretty scary. When the doctor gave me the anesthetic i was between contractions and that wasnt so bad...but when she was putting the cathetar in, i was sqeezing my husbands hand so hard i think i worried him. they had to try a few times to get it in and it was during a painful contraction. Almost imediatly after the cathetar went in my back, i got the relief i wanted! The nurses gave me a ton of pillows and left me to rest. I never realized how good ice chips were, delicious! I tried to get some sleep, but the anticipation and nervousness kept me from getting any sleep. between 4-5am i was feeling pressure down below and the doctor came and checked and i was dilated to a 10. it was time to start pushing! its hard to push when you cant feel contractions and not sure if your pushing hard enough. I pushed for about 40 min and my baby Logan was born at 6:26 am.
