Trinity-Marie`s birthstory

I had my weekly check up scheduled for Wednesday, May 27, 2009. I went and they checked my cervix, I was 3 CM and 50% effaced. Having GD, my sugar levels seemed to have corrected themselves so that is an indication that the placenta has aged. Anyways, the doctor came back in the room and said `Head on over to L&D, you`re getting induced today`. With great shock, I went. I was alone, had my car parked on a side street, didn`t have my bags, was totally not prepared. I called DH and my family and they met me in the birthing room. I got oxytocin/pitocin at 12:40 PM. They checked my cervix again and I was still 3 CM and 70% effaced. I thought to myself that this is going to be a loooonngg labor. The contractions finally started and they gradually got stronger. I asked for the epidural and was told I would need to wait because the anastesioligist was running behind. I was having horrible contractions, to the point of screaming and crying. My childless best friend was in the room at this time going on and on about her job and her boss. I really let her have it and told her `Happy Hour is over, get out of here`. I felt absolutely awful, but I was in pain. I got the epidural at 5:30. I heard a pop on the fetal monitor and felt a burst inside. Sure enough my water broke at 7:40 PM. I buzzed the nurse and she checked to make sure the fluid was clear and it was. 5 Minutes later I felt incredible pressure. I felt the baby moving down the canal and I had the pressure and urge to push. I buzzed the nurse again and she checked my cervix. She felt the baby`s head and said I had no cervix. This baby was coming so she paged the doctor and began setting up the room for baby. Things got a little hectic because I needed to push NOW. With the first push, her head came out. With the second push, her body came out. They sucked out her mucous and put her on my chest. I was in love from the first moment I saw her. We have been trying for over 10 years to have our second child and she was surely worth the wait!
