Ian-Langston-Worley`s birthstory

Ian

I left my house on Tuesday Morning November 13 around 5am, picked up my Mom and got to the hospital around 545. We were supposed to be there around 6, but it seems that everyone decided to be induced or go into labor on the 13th also. We found out that there were over 50 babies born on the 13th and 14th. A very popular time.

Well, I got to my triage room, since all the L&D rooms were still full, about 645, got to meet my really nice nurse.. who explained what all would be happening. She then asked if I wanted to good ol enema, of course I did...who wants to poop on the table. HAHA!

The nurse then checks me and says that I am a tight 1 1/2 and only 50% and that Ian was still really high up. So an hour later, I am up in bed, hooked up to my IV.. at about 810-815 the nurse hooks me up to the Pitocin. At about 855 Dr Aulds comes in and wishes us all luck and that he hopes to see me soon. Mom, Jon and I are the only ones there at this time, and I am still in the triage room. After 2 increases in the Pitocin around 10:40am Ians heart-rate drops. Jon and I were sitting there watching the monitor to see if I am having any contractions yet, and we watch Ians heart-rate go from 140s to around 60. The nurses come running in, shut off the Pitocin and roll me onto my side. Within 10 minutes I am in a Labor and Delivery room with everyone pacing around. The nurse says that if that happens again that Dr. Aulds does not play around and will do a C-Section.

I stay off of the petocin for a little bit, and when Ian is stablized around 11:55 we start the petocin back. After several increases, we reach the 12 mm level where his heart rate dropped before. We pass that and everything seems to be going great. I have started to feel contractions some what, nothing really consistant or that bad.

Around 3:00 and nothing really has changed that much. I am only like a 3-4, so the nurse manually is able to break my water... what a weird sensation.. like peeing on yourself for pretty much forever. HAHA! At 3:30 the nurse gives me Nubain and phenagrin since I almost always get sick. Not much change going on at all from here on out it seems.

Around 730ish or so the pains have gotten pretty bad but still not any progress, we have heard Csection several times since Ian did not want to move down at all. So, around 8:15pm I am given my Epidural. Mom, Jon, Aunt Debbie, Dad, David and Bethany are there. I have been pretty much in and out so I dont remember really much at all.

The next thing I remember is then being surrounded by nurses and them saying my heart rate and blood pressure had gone down really low and they had to give me a shot of Ephedera. Which they said would more than likely increase Ians movement and the way things would go... Its pretty much all a blank until about 1am ish on the 14th.

I am in so much pain...I tell the little nurse (who had only been out of school about 6 months) that I could feel everything that I wasnt numb anymore and that I knew the difference between pressure and pain and that I was feeling pain. I could move my legs around etc. So they call in the anasthesologist again (a real ass) and he gave me a "booster". YEAH RIGH. I could still feel everything. I kept telling them that something was wrong. Since my heart rate and Ians kept having problems they kept rolling me from side to side to stay off my back, I felt as if the epidural had come out. NO ONE WOULD LOOK (nurse, dr etc). So around 3am Dr. Aulds came in and demanded a COMPLETE REDO of my epidural not just a booster. The anast. came in he was a complete ass again to everyone. And sure enough my epidural was out. I kept saying over and over that no one would listen to me that I knew that. So, I was in and out until around 4-5ish. Thats when I woke up and felt nothing but LOTS of pressure like I had to push. Dr. Aulds came in and said I was still around a 7, the pressure was on... it got worse and worse. I kept feeling like I needed to push.

My Aunt Debbie was there and since my Mom had her surgery last week the past 24 hrs had been way to much for her. So my Aunt was pretty much my drill instructor. Telling me "YOU WONT PUSH, YOU WILL BREATHE" She would count with me etc. I knew I was a major brat.I would get mad at everyone when they would laugh at what I would say, and I would say a few choice words back to them. HAHA! YEAH RIGHT.

We called everyone in, Bubba and Bethany showed up, my Grandmother was there, Jon was there the whole time, Mom was there... Dad showed up a little later, Aunt Debbie was there being my rock...

The time came to push.

Around 655am, I started to push.

They said I could only have 3-4 ppl in the room. Mom was no question, Bubba and Bethany for pictures, and I had to choose between Jon and Aunt Debbie. Aunt Debbie wanted Jon in there to be with me so he stayed. I cant believe that they wouldnt allow both, no one was in the way... So Mom and Aunt Debbie would trade places to help me push.

So about an hour and a half later at 8:32am, Ian Langston Worley was finally born. I had kept a towel across my face almost the ENTIRE labor process, since the lights were so bright and I knew for some reason that I would end up getting a migraine. The last few pushes were the worse, and all I did was do a constant moan until the last one, when I knew I had to work hard, and only then did I scream.

Bethany video taped and bubba took photos, and boy were they graphic, couldnt believe they would... but they are.. and they arent that bad. Of course I will never look at myself the same again.

The last week has been hectic and crazy and very trying.

Thanks go to Mom and Jon for being there pretty much the entire time, Aunt Debbie for being the strong voice I needed and to everyone else that has been there for me over the past long 10 months.

Ian wouldnt eat anything for the first 24 hours, and its still a real struggle to get him to eat now... actually its about that time for me to try again.

I will post more later.

Love,

Jennifer and Ian
