Hailey-Anne`s birthstory

Went for a basic check-up and ended up going into labor! Checked into labor and delivery at 2:30pm having mild contractions every 2-3 minutes. At 4:30 began having back labor pains, and tried to wait as long as I could before the epidural. I didn`t want to have the procedure done until hubby was back from getting the kids set up at a friend`s house. He returned around 5:30-6 (I can`t remember) and we got the epi in. Whew! I was finally able to release my death grip on the side rails! Contractions never got any closer than 2 minutes apart, and my cervix was progressing well. At 11 pm, my doctor checked me, and told me it would be about an hour, but by 11:30, I had hubby call the nurse, because I was pretty sure it was almost time. She checked, and I was 9 cm dilated, so went for the doctor. He got there and I was already at 10 and wanting to push, so we got set up, and at 11:40, Hailey was born. She took me all of three pushes! Beautiful little girl who I only got to say hi to before being whisked off for breathing problems. (...continued in Charley`s birth story)

Charley-Rose`s birthstory

(continued from Hailey's birth story...) After Hailey was whisked off, hubby and I were watching the clock. He had been telling me for weeks by then that the girls were going to be born on Cinco de Mayo, but I had kept pshaw-ing him. So we were working to try to make that happen. I didn't start pushing right away, because I couldn't feel any contractions. The doctor - this part's odd - reached inside me to help turn Charley around to get ready for birth. She cooperated like a pro! Within 5 minutes, I could feel her pressing against my pelvic bones. The doctor assisted her by keeping her in place, and I got to pushing. The strange thing was, I couldn't feel anything while I was pushing, so didn't feel like I was getting anything accomplished. (No more big tight belly to push against.) With 10 minutes left until midnight, I was working hard to get her moved down into the birth canal still. 4 minutes to go, and I could feel her there. Finally passed the midnight hour, and we all laughed that the girls would have two different birthdays! Charley's birth went very quickly once she was in the birth canal, and was born at 12:14 am. I also got to just say hi before she was taken away to check on her breathing as well. (...continued on profile)
