Emily-Bree-Anne`s birthstory

I am excited to say that Emily has now joined our family and has a name! She was born via cesarean birth. DJ and I arrived at the hospital at 5:00AM in order to get signed in and prepped. I have to say that I wasn`t nervous at all but I was a little anxious about the epidural. My Mom, Aunt Carolyn, and husband were all there. Around 7:30 they had finished all four IV`s and wheeled me down to the operating room. DJ had to wait outside while the spinal/epidural combo was administered. That seemed to take a long time. It was uncomfortable but I have to say that it did not really hurt. Once that was all in place DJ came in and they seemed to start immediately. However I didn`t realize that the surgery had even started until I smelled the doctor corterizing my tummy! It smelled like burning hair. I kept feeling my belly button. It felt as if it was going to pop inside out. Then Dr. Klein and a nurse were pushing very hard externally on my upper left abdomen. Emily`s entire body was under my rib cage and she refused to come out. After a moment or two they had to get out the vacumm extractor to assist. I don`t remember hearing her cry right away. My husband told me later that her lips were blue/purple and she was really limp. It took them a few minutes to really get her going. I had something called DAT weekly where my blood O+ mixed with her B+ blood in utero and it caused her to be very ill. She was 7lbs 0oz and 19 inches. She is healthy, a bit of jaundice but it growing strength and size quickly. I look forward to hearing from all of you!
