Okay.. it was Wednesday Aug. 26th and I had a doctors appointment. It was SOOO hot outside and I didnt wanna risk driving to the gas station with my gas light on so I was thinking about rescheduling my appointment. With my babys father at work, I couldnt find a ride. So, as I was sitting on my bed my grandmother called and offered to follow me to the gas station so I could make my appointment. For the previous week or so I didnt feel well and had noticed extremely bad swelling in my feet, hands and face. People kept telling me I was swollen really bad but when I called my doctor to report it the nurse blew me off so I figured I'd wait till my appointment to bring it up. While I was getting weighed the nurse told me( and showed me) that I was up to 157 pounds. ( I was 98 when I got pregnant) She said she would note it because that was more than 5 pounds over a weeks period. As I was waiting for the doctor the nurse took my blood pressure and said it was 143 (dont remember the bottom number). She asked if I ever had high blood pressure and I responded "not that I know of." The doctor entered the room and said he wanted to double check my pressure because it was high.. by that point it was 136. He told me I needed to be sent right to labor and delivery so they could make sure everything was ok and he also noticed the swelling (which the nurse blew me off about) and wanted to have mr tested for preclampsia (which is a condition some women get in the last trimester of pregnancy and can cause extreme swelling.. i did the research) When I got to labor and delivery they sent me in immediately and told me I was being admitted because my blood pressure when up to 153. After waiting about 6 hours the doctor told me I was going to be induced tomorrow (thursday) I would officially be 37 weeks which is considered full term. Immediately I felt excited (bc i was gonna meet my little man early.. but also scared because I didnt think I was ready for delivery). Later on that night around 12am they moved me from high risk to the regular labor and delivery room.. thats where the nurse told me I was going to be checked to see if I was dialated.. if I was they would start the pitosin if not they would have to insert what looked like a tablet in my cervix to cause it to thin out to the point where I would begin to have contractions and my labor would begin.. BUT up until this point my blood pressure was causing me to have contractions anyways.. so I was ready for that.. it was 1:00 am when she checked me and told me I wasnt dialated.. she let me pee(lol) then inserted the tablet.. then she told me in a hour or so I would have to get a cathider (sp) bc I was on an IV and monitors.. I was NOT happy about not being able to piss on my own.. As time went by ( it seemed like forever) ppl came and went and I began to experience the WORSE contractions I had felt my entire pregnancy. Usually u have to wait longer but bc I was getting induced they told me at 3 cm I could get my epidural.. so at 3cm I was YELLING " MEDICINE! MEDICINE! MEDICINE! " the nurse came in and i got my IV for my epidural. They gave me a button to push to get more medicine BUT said I could only press it TWICE an hour that rule went out the window bc I started pressing that button like it was the buzzer for jeopardy. They had to come in and manually give me three more doses bc the button stopped working. After the 3rd one they told me I couldnt get anymore off the IV I had.. they would have to redo it.. I yelled NO... shortly after I remember it was me.. my boyfriend.. and his best friend in the room.. one moment I was talkin to em then I remember feeling like a relief and water pouring out between my legs.. i even heard a pop.. it was my water.. i started yelling bc I didnt kno the nurse was right next to me she checked me and forsure it was my water.. the contractions got SOOOOOOOO intense after that.. and shortly after I remember pushing my little man out.. I remember tellin the nurse and my mom "all this pushin aint doin nothin" I heard the nurse say most new moms push for 1 to 3 hours.. thats all I needed to hear.. not only was i STARVING but all i was able to eat was ICE couldnt even drink water.. SO on my 6th push he was here! I was pushing for about 30 minutes.. Because I was on magnesium and blood pressure meds.. my baby was in ICU.. I also had to return to high risk.. I was in the hospital a total of 6 days and I never got to have my little man in my room with me.. they were running all these test on him and checking his blood but luckily he came home the same day as me..However, he came the day before his shower so i had to cancel it and all the ppl who said they got him something.. NONE of em came to visit me in the hospital and NOONE got him anything.. LUCKILY i got paid while i was in there so I was able to get him stuff but BOY O BOY i was NOT happy. Im in love with him now and me and his daddy got him so he will NEVER want for anything. I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him.. and i thank God everyday that I have him. The whole time I was in pushing I was praying my blood pressure went up to 173 and I was thinking I was going to have a seizure and pass(for those of u who dont know high blood pressure can cause seizures and strokes) Im still on medicine for it so i unfortunately cant breast feed but im alive and well.. so im happy!
