My Birth Story........
Emma Grace was born on sunday 2nd of December at 7.50am. She weighed in at 6lb and 1/2oz and 18.5 inches long, shes absolutely perfect!!...
Saturday morning at 9am on December 1st i finally experienced my first real contraction, i was convinced it was false labour again, as the contraction was very mild, period pain like..this carried on every half hour right up til 6 pm when they spread to back and were regular at 15mins apart, my contractions got stronger and were 8 mins apart at 11pm so i phoned hospital and was told to come in so i could get checked.
At the hospital i was checked and monitored, baby sounded very happy, and i was 2-3cm dialated and fully effaced, the midwife said i was staying this time as she strongly felt baby would be here in the early hours. baby was in posterior position....boy is that sore.... so i was hooked up to a tens machine (my life saver, highly recommended lol) my mum stayed with me, she was an absolute hero to me. by 2am contractions were unbearable so i asked Denise (my midwife ) for something to kill the pain. i took a shot of morphine.....did not help apart from make my bum sore lol. the pressure was unbelievable and i spent most of my time in the bathroom thinking i needed the toilet. 3am came and went contractions were now 3 mins apart so i was taken to the delivery suite for gas and air, was checked and was only 5cm dialated and denise said i may be another 7 hours top!!! Denise' shift finished at 8am and i was really annoyed that she may not be the one to deliver my baby. i broke down, i literally thought i wouldnt make it and demanded transportation to a hospital four hours away for an epi, that didnt happen though lol
7am and the pressure was now insane and contractions were practically on top of each other so again i was bathroom ridden lol, while on the toilet my water broke....and yes it was definately my water this time, i told denise i needed to push and she said she would check me again and i was ready!!!!! so off i went and pushed...really wasnt as bad as i expected this part, u just concentrate so hard on pushing u forget the pain and the thought of meeting your bundle soon helps keep you going. i pushed for 45mins before baby was born, and my mum announced to me that my bundle was a little girl, it was soo over whelming, i cant believe emma is finally here she is perfect in every way and she came just in time for Denise to deliver at 7.50am, she was a little drousy when born cos of the injection of morphine i had and needed a bit of oxygen, but is thriving and very alert, i couldnt be happier!!!!! xxx
