We got to the hospital around 7am and I was hooked up to the monitors, got an IV going, had my belly shaved, and answered tons of questions. By 8:30am, we were being wheeled into the operating room so I can have the spinal. My vertebrae are very close together and it was very difficult for the anesthesiologist to put it in and she had to call the Dr. Ouch that hurt and took over an hour to get it put in. The hardest part was having to sit with my chin tucked, shoulders down, and curled up---um hello I have a baby in the belly that’s a really hard position. So everyone was standing around waiting for the spinal, as soon as the Dr got it in, I immediately felt my butt go numb and then it went down my legs until I couldn’t move them at all. I couldn’t even wiggle my toes, a very weird feeling. Then they put the catheter in and I started to puke because of the spinal. DH came into the room and they got started, I didn’t feel a thing, it was amazing. Elizabeth Grace was born at 9:52am and weighed 6lbs 13oz and 18”. She got a 8 and a 9 on her apgar tests. Then DH left the operaring room and followed her and the nurses up to the nursery. I was then stapled together and brought into recovery around 10:30am. At around 11:15am DH came to see me and told me how beautiful she is! They gave me some IV fluids, and checked my blood pressure and monitored my heart for the hour in recovery. Everything was fine so around 11:30am I was brought up to the room. At around 12:30 (just a guess) the nurse brought her in and I was able to nurse her for the first time. She latched on like an old pro. Lots of visitors came to see us and I was immobile for most of that day. My mom stood at the hospital overnight and we were both annoyed at how many times they came into the room to make sure we were ok. I got up out of bed at around 4am for the first time, which felt very good. The next day i did some laps around the hospital which was pretty rough. I didn't take any pain killers until that night when i started contracting pretty bad. and the rest is history in the making!!
