Christopher-Zaden-Stokes`s birthstory
And now to tell you my birth story.
Well it all started at about 5:30am. I woke up to a really hard contraction. I laid there for about 15 minutes hoping I would go back to sleep. That wasn’t the first time a concretion woke me up so I assumed it would pass. 4 contractions, (back to back) later. I decided to get up. They were evenly spaced and seemed to come every few minutes and that was unusual. I had my OBGYN appointment the day prior and she said I was finger tip soft. I wasn’t even dilated at that point and I was 2 days over due.
Anyway I got up and went down stars because they were usually strong. At that point it was about 5:45am. I had, had at least 5 contractions so I decided to write them down.to see if I was going in to labor.
I didn’t think it was possible for him to come that fast especially since I showed no signs of labor the day prior or even threw out the night. I tracked my concretions for 4 hours and I was having contraction that were 6 to 8 minutes apart. At that point I called labor and deliver at Tripler to ask when I should come in. They told me to wait until I was 2 to 4 minutes apart and to be at 2 to 4 minutes for at least 2 hours (yeah right). I waited and at about 11:30am I passed the rest of my mucus plug with bloody show (just means there was blood in it). I called them again to make sure that was ok. They said it was normal. For the most part they acted like I wasn’t going to have the baby since I wasn’t dilated the day prior. So I waited and kept track fo my contractions. They slowed down a little at lunch time but once 1:00 came around they picked back up and were coming closer together. By 2:30 they were 3 to 5 min apart and I started packing my stuff up in the truck and getting my things together. By 3:15 they were 2 to 4 min apart and I wasn’t gonna wait any longer then 1 hour because the contractions were so painful. This time around it was a lot more painful then my first delivery.
Left for the hospital at 3:30pm, I figured by the time I go there it wold be about 4:00 and that would put me at 1 hour. There was no way in hell I was gonna wait for two hours. If I had I wouldn’t have made it to the hospital in time.
Its funny how they don’t really take you seriously when you first walk in. Once they checked me they realized that I was about to drop the baby. I was dilated 6 cm and by the time the doctor had come in to see me I was having contractions every 1 to 2 min. That’s about the time everything started getting crazy. Nurses popping in and out sticking IV’s in me and giving me meds.
I decided to have a C-section based on what the doctor told me. I didn’t want my son to get stuck like the last time and not be able to get him out. I had a whole mess of issues with my first pregnancy. From having his heart rate drop, being educed, going in to labor, my son wouldn’t progress after he started crowning, and his heart rate kept dropping. Then they decided “oh he’s not gonna fit, his head will but not his shoulders” so I had to do a C-section. And because he had come down as far as he did they had a hard time pulling him back out the other way. They had to cut me bigger then they normally would and because of all of that I hemorrhaged and (to be really dramatic) I almost bled to death! It wasn’t really that bad but I lost a lot of blood and I had to stay in the hospital for a week to make sure I didn’t drop dead. Yes I know, Im crude about the whole thing.
Anyway I figured it would be safer for both of us even though I was looking forward to a faster recovery.
Well finally they took me back to the operating table had me climb up, this huge thing, lean forward and gave me the epidural. I had a hard time relaxing for this, the last time I had it done my back spazed out and flexed. Aside from that I had a contraction as he was working on my back. Finally got the meds and they laid me out on the table as fast as they could. Strapped me down and pulled up the certain. They waited for my husband to come in before they started of course I thought they were gonna tell me when they were actually going to start like they did last time but they didn’t. It was kind of like, oh they started a few min ago. Good thing I was numb from the chest down.
This C-section took longer then the last one, they said there was a lot of scar tissue they had to get threw. I was shaking so bad from the meds they gave, it felt like I was gonna swallow my tung on top of it. I was a little scared because of the length of time it took, I want to say it took about 30 min to 45 min before they got the baby out. Then it took them another 30 to put me back together again.
Once the baby came out, they took him and cleaned him up good and they let me see him. I didn’t fall asleep this time around, but then again I was really drugged up last time.
Anyway, end result! Zaden weighed 8lbs 3.8oz., 20` long. He was actually lighter then Mykel was when he was born and he is ½` longer then Mykel was.
